Season of Lights

There are so many reasons to celebrate this time of year! I love the combination of the Winterflake Frame and Birthday Candles from Poppystamps. By simply changing the color palette, adding a few sparkling gemstone embellishments and some vellum poinsettias, you can create holiday cards for all your friends and family this holiday season.

These festive Hannukah cards were created with Poppystamps and Memory Box dies. I love the intricate little star and snowflake details in the Winterflake Corner and the Diamond background from Poppystamps.

The antique lantern, which pops up in so many holiday cards I create was cut once in a shiny metallic silver paper, then again in a shiny black and mounted with tiny bits of pop dots. The Bright Lanterns, Snowflake Corner, and Elegant Scrollwork, all from Memory Box, are layered in different colors of paper to add dimension. It’s so much fun to experiment with different colors and shapes.

May all your holiday gatherings be warm and bright!

Honor Our Men and Women in Uniform

Blue Star-WM

Veteran’s Day is a great time to honor all of the men and women who have served our country through military service. Today, brave men and women, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, and brothers and sisters, are working all around the globe on land and sea in every branch of the armed forces. The Blue Star Service flag is an official banner authorized by the Department of Defense for display by families who have members serving in the Armed Forces during any period of war or hostilities. These future veterans and their families deserve our support from a grateful nation.

You can create a Blue Star service flag card using Memory Box and Poppystamps dies. I embossed the white grey background in a brick pattern, then mounted it on a navy blue panel on top of a light grey card. The tiny red Resting Birds are perched on the Tall Birch, as Perfect Pumpkins line up for inspection, giving this scene an autumn feel, all from Memory Box. The flag itself was hand-drawn and cut out using red, white and blue cardstock, and hung on a gold Poppystamps Delicate Chain. The beautiful Grand Madison Window is one of my favorite Poppystamps dies, and appears in many of my designs. It’s just so versatile.

Remember your favorite soldiers and sailors, and their families throughout the year, especially during the holidays when so many have to work so far away and are unable to make the long trip home. Send them a little extra love this year.

Who’s Afraid of Whom?

Black Kitties-WM

Halloween is a magical time! My favorite way to celebrate is to dress up in something fun and go to a big party with lots of friends, music, and spooky drinks! Or maybe snuggle up with someone special and watch my favorite scary movies after turning out the lights to all the neighborhood kids who have come to the door. However you celebrate the Season of the Witch, I hope it’s magical and special, and you get to celebrate it with someone who loves this unique American holiday as much as I do.

The little black kitty on this Halloween card has taken a little stroll out to the garden on a foggy, misty night and is met with a spooky surprise! But who’s afraid of WHOM?

Happy Halloween!
