Garden Fresh

IMG_0787-wm

Fresh from my garden, an aromatic little bundle of herbs, tied with a soft piece of baker’s twine. I made this card for a very special friend of mine, a chef! It’s bright and cheerful, just like him. On the side, three colorful Perler bead embellishments from the 10,000 or so I melted last summer! I’ve got plenty to spare! Easy and fun, and reminds me of the last bushy herbs still full and fragrant in my Southern garden.

Soft and Squishy

IMG_0802-wm

This card was so much fun to make! Lately, I have been experimenting with new materials that can be cut with my Poppystamps steel-craft dies, and today I have used fun foam! It’s soft and flexible and goes through my Big Kick machine even easier than paper! The challenge of working with foam is that unlike paper, it is completely malleable! Trying to get it to retain its shape while you are gluing it to the cardstock is like herding cats! But the results are so much fun – -colorful, squishy, textured! It’s the perfect media for this little Cute Caterpillar, from Poppystamps. I also used the Big Bubble Background, and the Large Marianna Vine Outline, all from Poppystamps.

Autumn Sun

IMG_0257-WM

The colors of autumn are everywhere. Rich golds, reds, and oranges dot the landscape as autumn creeps in, yet the days are still sunny and warm. This sunflower gives a nod to the last bright bursts of summer sun. I used a Memory Box designer stencil in Texture Honey Comb with a rich black ink and embossing powder to create this raised background. The butterfly is Delaney Butterfly and Cheviot Butterfly, from Poppystamps, and the beautiful sunflower combo is the familiar Bountiful Sunflower.

Forest Home

Forest Home

I love to watch the flocks of blackbirds descend upon the house and yard this time of year! I watch them take off in flight in almost perfect precision, hundreds of birds swirling into the air. This aviary salute uses Poppystamps Carolina Birdhouse and Pine Sprigs, and Memory Box Savannah Border and Resting Birds dies to create this scene outside my window.

Today I am sharing with you a project I created with old and new Poppystamps favorites, all available from the Poppystamps website. You can be inspired by a new project every day by checking out the Poppystamps blog at http://poppystamps.typepad.com/

Warm Thoughts

Warm Thoughts of Home reminds me of that great time of year when the days get short, the evenings turn cool, and there’s always a bright and cozy house or two when you turn down your street at the end of the day. To create this look in your warm and cozy home, start with your favorite autumn background paper, then add four wonderful Poppystamps dies that fit so well together: Brevilla Houses, Viva Tree, Country Fence, and from the newest release, Maple Leaf Border.

You can use all of the Brevilla Houses, or add three or four of your favorite by cutting the houses apart. I like to use yellow glitter paper behind the cut to look like the lights are glowing from the windows. I also used a pinkish cherry red glitter paper for the blowing maple leaves above. I thought they were a vivid and colorful contrast to the black in both the patterned paper and the trees.

Enjoy your warm crafting days ahead, and hop on over to your next blog stop from Yoonsun Hur.

Home is Where . . .

IMG_0793-WM

After spending most of the month of August either on the road, on vacation, or packing and unpacking for our big move, I am feeling particularly inspired by the theme of HOME, with autumn on our heels. You know the saying, Home is where the heart is, and this Memory Box and Poppystamps project reminds me that there is always something special about our own little corner we call home.

This HOME theme also was inspired by the great House Warming Party Challenge from Catherine Pooler. Check out her challenge and some other wonderful home cards and you might win a great prize too!

There are so many cities that I call home, but Philadelphia is one of my favorite! This salute to home was created with some of my favorite Memory Box and Poppystamps dies. It was inspired by the House Warming Party Challenge on the new blog from Catherine Pooler! Check it out at:
