Fusion Card Challenge: Bright Butterfly

Bright Butterfly

Hi everybody! It’s a gloomy day outside today, which is always good for some crafty time! I decided to play around with the Bright Butterfly Challenge over at Fusion, although I didn’t really fuse the photo and sketch very well. I really just experimented with a few blooms and butterflies until I declared it finished. The jury is still out on this one, since I usually leave the big blooms open and airy instead of flat. Let me know what YOU think! You can play along with the Fusion Card Challenge right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2015/06/fusion-bright-butterfly.html

Pretty Little Studio June Sketch Challenge

One of my favorite sketch challenges every month is over at Pretty Little Studio! This month, I used a vintage die cut from the PLS collection of this little boy and his toy airplane! I love the look on the puppy’s face! I used a few PLS pattern banners and cut them into tags to match the airport tags, and added a few fluffy white clouds! Voila! See all the great inspiration over at the Pretty Little Studio blog right here: http://prettylittlestudio.com/plsblog/

Dies R Us Challenge #27: Flags and Banners

Our friends at Dies R Us have a great challenge for us this week, Flags and Banners! You can get all the details and let your flag fly right here: http://diesruschallenge.blogspot.com/2015/06/challenge-27-flags-andor-banners.html

Emily Dickinson wrote, “Hope is a thing with feathers!” She wrote a lot more, of course, but I will always think about hope and birds. What is more hopeful and full of joy than a bird singing on a branch? I used little birds and soft, bright colors against the kraft background to make a cheery and hopeful banner!

Here is my list of dies:

Circle Garland Confetti Cuts, Reverse Confetti

Double Banner Garland Confetti Cuts, Reverse Confetti

Contempo Circle Border, Memory Box

Contour Typewriter Keys, Memory Box

Resting Birds, Memory Box

Elegant Scrollwork, Memory Box

Garden Bouquet, Poppystamps

Hearts punch, Martha Stewart

Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge

Papertrey Ink is sponsoring a fun blog hop today and I am THRILLED to be taking part. I love seeing how card designers are inspired from photo images. Do they select a similar color palette, or do they choose matching elements, like flowers or shapes? Are they traditional, or cutting edge and outside the box with their interpretations? No matter what your card making style is, you can always find great ideas over at the Papertrey Ink blog right here: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2015/06/june-2015-blog-hop.html

These shoes are just so adorable! Are they baby shoes for a sweet little girl? Are they pretty Asian inspired art pieces? When I saw them, they immediately reminded me of the time I spent in China, surrounded by flowers and bolts of colorful silk fabric in the outdoor markets of Shanghai.

IMG_1844-wmI remember sending a lot of love notes to a special someone across the miles, and brought those elements into my design. I was inspired by the color palette, and the graphic component of bold stripes. However, I changed it up to graphic dots instead. Enjoy the Love Notes Across the Miles!
