I have recently discovered a fun new challenge blog called Seize the Birthday! So I have decided to play along this week. You can get all the details right here: http://seizethebirthday.blogspot.com/2015/09/border-punches-or-dies.html

On yesterday’s post, I featured the CAS version of this card with just the birds. But, since I am sending this to my Grandma for her birthday next month, I have seized the toppings and turned this into a loaded birthday card! I added a big birthday cupcake, balloons, sequins, ribbon, and used tiny little bits of pop dots o make those balloons float right off the page! I know my Grandma will love this one!

Taylored Expressions Share Joy #4

ShareJoyChallenge4

Taylored Expressions has a a challenge I look forward to every week, Share Joy! This week, the focus is on a sketch with a CAS style. I usually don’t create a lot of CAS style cards, so I’m always struggling with what defines the style. Is this clean enough? Is this simple enough? The freestyle collage designer in me always says “Add more! One more bird, or one more balloon and it will be finished!” You can get all the TE #4 details and play along right here: http://www.sharejoychallenge.blogspot.com/2015/09/share-joy-challenge-4-sketch-clean.html

Here’s my go at the TE sketch, in my own version of a CAS inspired card! I am going to send this to my Grandmother for her birthday next month!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

It’s time for a Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says Stamps! Get all the details right here: http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-no-designer-paper/

IMG_2069-wm

This week the challenge is “No Designer Paper” so I went solid background in this small collection of initial note cards I created for a few friends of mine. Bold and graphic cards can be easy to make, but attention to details is a must. Keep your eye on those elements of great design, like super clean work, a good balance of images on the page, and color compliments and contrasts. A tiny image can sometimes go a long way!

Tag You’re It Challenge #31

TYIC_GuestDesigner_Badge

I am so honored to have been invited to be a guest designer with the Tag You’re It Design Team for Challenge #31! This week, designer Jeanne Jachna has given us a beautiful autumn themed card to be inspired by! Get all the details and enter your Autumn creation over at Tag You’re It, right here: http://tagyoureitchallenge.blogspot.com/

TYIC #31

I love the rich Autumn colors in Jeanne’s tag, and the beautiful gold filigree leaf. It reminds me of the leaves after they fall from the trees and begin to disintegrate into the crunchy leaf piles on the sidewalk, one of the reasons I love walking in the fall!

IMG_2103-wm

To create this card, I cut three layers of the Quilted: Autumn die from Papertrey Inks. I inserted the plaid pattern pieces into the panels after I adhered the first layer cut with orange card stock. I added a second card stock layer, then the top pattern piece, and all the lines of the pattern line up! It’s a unique feature, which gives the leaf great texture and dimension. Then I added some shiny foil dots and gold leaves.

It reminds me of fall, and I hope it will remind you too of fallen leaves, sparkling and flashing when hit by the last bright rays of the Autumn sun.
