Tag You’re It has a new challenge this week! How many of you are fans of the movie, Elf? Buddy the Elf declares that there are are four food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup. Kara Lynne’s inspiration tag reminds me of the food group that kicks off the holiday candy season, candy corn! I always think about Halloween when I see candy corn! I love the colors of candy corn, even though I do not eat those tiny tri-color triangles! When I was about 12 years old, my friend Lisa and I pooled our money and went down to the candy store. I wanted a variety of things, but Lisa insisted on candy corn, ALL candy corn! Do you have any idea how much candy corn you could buy for $2.50? Somewhere in the neighborhood of SIX POUNDS! We took our candy corn booty bag down to the river and sat on a park bench and ate candy corn until I had a tummy ache. I told Lisa to take the bag home but she refused, so I brought it home and my mom put it in a big bowl for the family. I think we had candy corn in that bowl until Easter! I never wanted to eat another piece of candy corn in my life! I do like the color though, and it will always remind me of autumn in Wisconsin, which is a beautiful season!

Your candy corn experience reflects mine, but with a different ‘treat.’ The first time – years upon years ago – my mom made a black forest cake, I had the flu – and the look of the cake, even as beautiful as it was, the smell, as tantalizing as it was, and the taste, as delicious as it was, were drastically impacted by my illness. This cake is a family favourite for everyone…except me! GIve me carrot cake and cream cheese icing any day! Your tag, with the wonderful background, black cat and pumpkin stack, is fantastic!
