I love that pink wicker picnic basket, and used that as my inspiration this month! I made the pink wreath from the Merry and Bright Sweet Cuts, and added Flowers, an ivy vine and pretty watercolor hearts from Hello Spring, Thinking of You, and Snow Time Add On – Sweet Treats! It’s  a sweet spring card!

Take a look at what our creative team has made for you this month!

SPDSS50

Hi everybody!

I FINALLY have an opportunity to play along with Sugar Pea Designs! Today, I’m sharing a card I created for Sketch #50. You can get all the details and link up your creation right here: http://sugarpeadesigns.com/blog/2016/04/20/sugarsketch-50/

I love this fun grid shape and played around with the squares and the drop down element on the right. What’s better than Coffee and Cake? I used a few Poppystamps dies, and of course, included one of my favorite Sugar Pea Designs dies, Sugar Cuts – Coffee Words.

Please note: For some odd reason, the WordPress Media Library is somehow automatically adjusting the color on this photo, making the yellow appear like a neon greenish. The color palette on the photo is a pale yellow and grey and looks very pretty with the gold accents. I’m not sure how to fix this. has anyone else ever experienced this?

Inspired By All the Little Things #12

Hello Everyone!

I live in the Deep South, surrounded by beautiful magnolia trees like this! Most magnolias down here are white or yellow, but occasionally you’ll find a rare, pretty pink one just like this. There is something about the way a magnolia blossom’s petals, beautiful yet amazingly strong, reach right up into the air. They have always reminded me of lily pad flowers from my northern home state. This inspiration brought back some old memories, and a new creative idea.

The Card Concept Challenge #54

Hello everyone! We’ve got a gorgeous inspiration photo this week over at The Card Concept right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/

I just fell in love with these cascading lilacs in the galvanized steel bucket! I experimented with different kinds of flowers until I found the pretty Small Hydrangea Blooms from Poppystamps. I die cut dozens and dozens of tiny little petals, burnished them for dimension, glued them all together, then pinched each one into a tight cone shape, then added them into my “bucket” to create my own lilacs.

The background was created by painting watercolor paper in shades of green and emerald, then cutting it into nine grid squares. Lately, I’ve been making a collection of watercolor painted grid backgrounds, I love the technique so much! I added a few more finishing touches for my Fusion Collage card.

I made this easy breezy spring bird card to slip in just under the wire! It almost didn’t happen! Just as I sat down to work, all the power gently shut off – -complete silence, the computer monitor goes dark, the ceiling fan slowing to a stop, and just the sound of the birds outside. The power company was replacing a pole down the road. In only a few minutes, my upstairs craft studio was too hot to work in! I decided to pack it in and go for a run. Everything has now been restored and this simple little ribbon bird made it in just in time! He’s a cool little bird for a hot spring morning!

Fusion Card Challenge

IMG_2834-wm

Hello friends! Have you seen the colorful inspiration photo from Fusion this week? I spent a lot of time fooling around with this one, trying to make rainbow umbrellas and grey clouds. But then I came up with something really different, all while keeping in the spirit of the challenge, rainbows, and umbrellas! I really happy with the final result! There’s still a little time left to play along with the Fusion Challenge right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2016/04/fusion-april-showers.html

04.14.16

I fused a few elements from the photo and the sketch together to create this colorful card! I took the rainbow colors, and the umbrella from the photo, and the line of diagonal clouds mimic the lines on the sketch. I used foam pop dots, cut in tiny pieces to lift the clouds and umbrellas. I think it will brighten somebody’s day!
