Wake Up, folks! It’s time for spring and time for the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! This sleepy bear has finally rolled on over for a big black cup ‘o joe! You can get all the details and link up your coffee inspired card right here: http://coffeelovingcardmakers.com/2017/03/2017-spring-coffee-lovers-blog-hop/
I have been making a lot of my “watercolor grid” cards lately, and I have been receiving a few questions on how I make them. Today I am showing you a tiny tutorial on just how easy breezy a pretty background grid is to make.
I start with some inexpensive watercolor paints, a little water misting bottle, and a piece of watercolor paper. Even scraps and odd pieces will work too!
I mist the paper to get it nice and wet, and then just paint on whatever colors that suits my fancy! Today I am doing a very simple spring pinks and yellows palette. Sometimes I will do more complicated ombres, rainbow color washes, or a combination of colors that will best compliment the images on my card. I always start with a simple layer of paint puddles, like this, and then add paint splatters, or dripping paint, or more puddles, allowing each layer to dry before adding the next.
I then cut out the tiny squares that I will arrange in a pattern on a card stock base. I usually use one inch stitched squares, because I love square cards, but I also use circles, octagons, rectangles, anything you’d like to arrange into a pattern. Then I add my die cut images. See? Easy Breezy!
All you have to do is leave a comment and one lucky winner will be selected at random to win actual blog candy! Yes that’s right, Coffee Nut m&m’s and a Starbucks gift card!
One winner will be selected from all the comments left on my blog posts during the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop from March 24 – 31!
Thanks so much for joining me today!
Live your life in color!
