Paper Sweeties Challenge – September 2017

Hello Everybody!

Welcome to the Paper Sweeties September Challenge #59, Anything Goes! We have got a great inspiration photo for you that you are just going to love! These rich, red fruit colors always remind me of fall! You can get all the details and link up your September Challenge over on the Paper Sweeties blog right here: https://papersweeties.com/

I combined a few of my favorite Paper Sweeties stamps to create a September harvest party card. What’s better than coffee and friends? I had originally planned to create a stamped background, but all of the colorful, tiny pieces really stood out better with the crisp white look.

Take a look at what the design team has created for you this month!

Altenew August Challenge

Hello Everyone!

Today I am playing along with the Altenew August Challenge! I love working with Altenew’s beautiful stamps and dies to build these lovely flowers and leaves. When I saw the August Inspiration Photo, I knew I had to play around with this color palette and these images from Beautiful Day. You can get all the details and link up your own August inspiration at the Altenew blog right here: http://altenewblog.com/2017/08/01/august-2017-inspiration-challenge/

I was inspired by these pretty teals and golds, and the Altenew stamps make it easy!

Fusion Card Challenge

Hello Everybody!

I think I am just under the wire, but I had to play along with this week’s fun Fusion Challenge, Pastel Pencils! When I first saw the inspiration photo, I started working on it, but every time I sat down to work, I was distracted with other tasks. But something about these colorful pencils in a cup really spoke to me. You can get all the details and play along (if you hurry), over at The Fusion Challenge blog right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2017/08/fusion-pastel-pencils.html

This month, my hubbie and I received some news that came as a bit of a shock. After 19 years with his company, he and his entire department were eliminated, downsized, let go. It’s devastating to think that after picking up everything and moving down South here to Alabama a few years ago, that we would be starting all over once again.  Our plan is to relocate to a new location, and we have a few places in mind. I may be blogging a little less over the next few weeks, but we sure would appreciate you sending your prayers and thoughts and good luck charms our way! We are hoping and praying that this shut door will open a new window of opportunity for us very, very soon!

I made this card while thinking about my hubbie and I. We both are creative, artistic souls. He worked his way up as a talented graphic designer to the production supervisor, so I guess a little bit of ink and bling is a part of us, running through our veins like life blood. Despite this setback, we will keep going, living our lives in color. We appreciate all the love and support you have given to us both and to Crimson Owl Creations.

Here is the list of dies that I have used:

Paper Smooches: Mason Jars

Papertrey Ink: Pencil me In

Sugar Pea Designs: Sugar Cut Heartbeat

I love ALL the beautiful animals you can find on an African safari! Today, I made a card with a sweet little elephant under an ancient tree near the watering hole.  I will always have a special place in my heart for elephants too.

Floral Images and/or Colors

This is how I was inspired!

I used the Beautiful Day layered stamp set from Altenew, and stamped and fussy cut the flowers and leaves. Then I glued them on to a card panel and let it dry overnight. I then cut Winnie & Walter’s  In A Word: hello, right in the center of the image, holding my breath that the cut would come out perfect! I then cut out “hello” about 5 more times, then adhered everything in place, giving the hello a beautiful, raised dimension on the card. It turned out great!
