Hello Everybody!
August is here with a brand new challenge over on the Poppystamps blog, Beyond Borders! You can get all the details and play along with our challenge for a chance to win an amazing prize from Poppystamps right here: http://poppystamps.typepad.com/
Take a look at how I was inspired this month!
Autumn is nipping at our heels, even in this crazy heat! Soon kids will be packing up their backpacks and the leaves will start to turn! I wanted to capture the idea of trees and leaves expanding over the borders of the seasons, with these pretty pattern pieces cut from the Pretty Stitches dies.
If you have never worked with edge dies before, Poppystamps owner Dave Brethauer has created a beautiful video tutorial that you can find over on the Poppystamps blog. Dave created his pretty border edges by cutting six dies at once, then fitting them together like a jigsaw puzzle. To create my border edge, I cut each die separately, then layered each one on top of the other on my blue card stock base.
It doesn’t matter if the edges are sloppy or uneven, since they will all be trimmed evenly with one cut of the guillotine to fit neatly inside my pretty Pointed Rectangle Frame.
Once the edges and frame were smoothly adhered, I added the Birch Tree and a few Stitched Oak tree leaves, spilling down beyond the borders.
Now it’s your turn! We’d love to see what you’ll create! Just make a card or project using at least one Poppystamps die or stamp and share your concept of Beyond Borders! Link it up over at the Poppystamps blog, and see more great inspiration from our design team!
Thanks so much for joining us today!
