Let it Snow with Fusion

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am SO happy to be playing along with one of my favorite creative challenges, Fusion! In 2019, I started a brand new job! I work for an organization that is dedicated to helping all youth, especially those that need us the most, to become caring, productive, responsible citizens. It is not easy, but it is so rewarding. The kids keep me busy after school, and keep me exhausted after work! But one of MY goals for 2020 is to get back to crafting as much as I’d like, and find the perfect balance between crafty life and working life! So I am starting that with the very first Fusion challenge of 2020, Winter! Take a look!

You can play along with the Fusion challenge, and enter your beautiful Winter inspired creation over at the Fusion blog right here: https://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/01/fusion-winter.html

I took my inspiration from the photo. I love the black and white color palette, the tiny winter cabin, and the single word at the top, Winter. I grew up in Wisconsin, our house way out in the country, surrounded by tall pines and snow all winter long! I never liked the cold, but I did love waking up on those cold Winter mornings and seeing everything covered in a blanket of white! Tiny animal tracks would crisscross over the front yard, and even the tiniest speck of color would catch your eye. That has always been my idea of Winter.

Thank you so much for joining me today!

It’s Time to Celebrate with The Card Concept

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so glad you are dropping by today! Another great season at The Card Concept kicks off today, and we have got a gorgeous inspirational photo to share with you today for challenge #126, Time to Celebrate! Take a look! You can see how our design team was inspired, and enter your beautiful Time to Celebrate card over at The Card Concept blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

This is an elegant, lush photo that feels classy and luxe to me! So I took a little visit to my local craft store and looked at some gorgeous papers, embossed in shades of black, gold, pearl, and coral. I found two gorgeous sheets, one with these adorable tiny bees, and the other, a beautiful gold and pearl marble. I brought them home, played around, and came up with this! What do you think?

I cut out this intricate honeycomb pattern out of the gold and pearl marble, then cut out the tiny, individual bees and inserted them in random honeycomb cells. Then I cut out the tiny balloons in pretty glitter paper and added the little fox. I think HE is the one who is going to celebrate!  All together, with its intricate and lush design, and the fancy papers, it’s time to celebrate my Classy and Elegant card!

Now it’s your turn! We’d love to see what you’ll create. Pick your favorite style or mix and match!

Holiday Baubles with The Card Concept

Hello Crafty Friends!

Welcome to our newest challenge from The Card Concept, Holiday Baubles! Have you seen the beautiful ornament-inspired ideas from our amazing design team? They all inspire me every month! Our challenge photo features shiny, vintage ornaments in shades of pretty teal, turquoise, blue, and white. You can see the design team’s projects, and enter your inspired Holiday Baubles card over at The Card Concept right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I was so inspired by these lovely vintage ornaments that feature the etched snow-white details, and fell in love with the pretty snowflake star on the top ornament.  I used the amazing new die from Poppystamps, Leafy Snowflake Frame, to create these two little square cards that are the perfect size for a quick thank you note or even a holiday tag. I almost used foil paper, but instead selected a yardstick with a pretty sheen to it for a subtle shine for my Clean and Layered card..

Now it’s your turn! What will you create, shiny foil ornaments, or vintage charm? Shabby chic or Classy and Elegant? Use one of our style ideas or create something all your own, it’s up to you. Link it up over on The Card Concept.

Thanks so much for joining us today.

Thanksgiving Table with The card Concept #123

Hello Crafty Friends!

Thank you so much for popping in today and taking a look at what I have for you  with our newest challenge from The Card Concept, Thanksgiving Table!  You can find more great inspiration and beautiful ideas from our Design Team, and link up your Thanksgiving Table project over at The Card Concept right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/2019/10/the-card-concept-122-bountiful.html

Our inspiration photo has everything to do with a beautiful Thanksgiving Table, but what about my Clean and Layered old pick-up truck filled with pumpkins? Years ago, right before Thanksgiving, we were driving across the state of Alabama right after the sun had risen. It was a beautiful, warm, November morning, and we had just pulled into a gas station somewhere in the middle of cotton country. I was about to go inside and grab some coffee when I saw an old, blue, pick-up truck pull into the station. In the back was a GIANT pumpkin! Not just a big pumpkin, but a GIANT pumpkin, like one of those record-setting contest winners you see on TV. The gas station was surprisingly busy, and people had begun to gather around the truck and ask about the pumpkin. Ever since then, whenever I think about Thanksgiving, I think about that old pumpkin truck, about the rich, bountiful harvest fortunate Americans are able to celebrate every year, and the many blessings we all give thanks for in November. So I used the bright autumn colors and the pumpkin from the inspiration photo in my Clean and Layered “Thanksgiving Table.”

Now it’s your turn! Show us your favorite Thanksgiving memory, or start a new tradition with your version of a Thanksgiving Table, created in one of our styles or your favorite combination!
