Vintage Notes with The Card Concept #73

Hello Everybody!

Welcome to The Card Concept Challenge #73, Vintage Notes! We have got a challenging inspiration photo for you this week, featuring a very eclectic mix of images, embellishments, and vintage charm. Will you go light and airy, or maybe a little dark and goth? We’d love to see how you are inspired! You can get all the details and link up your card over at The Card Concept right here:http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/

There are so many wonderful details in this photo you could really do just about anything! I felt really inspired to do something with a vintage vibe, even though I don’t create a lot of vintage or shabby chic vintage designs. So, I pulled out a big box of tricks for a major production using tons of mixed media, embellishments, embossing paste, stencils, inks, stains, and a few bits and baubles to boot. But then I began creating in a true freestyle collage method, just cutting out and arranging a few unrelated images, cuts, and patterned papers, and voila! I had created an easy card I was really happy with that had a great vintage vibe to it. if you’ve never created a vintage look card before, give it a try with what you already have in your stash. You might just amaze yourself!

I can’t wait to see what my design team has created this week, for we have a few vintage look pros that take AMAZING to the next level! You can find all of their amazing ideas on The Card Concept blog, and link up your own project in your favorite style!

House of Cards May Challenge: Sequins Surprise

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the House of Cards May Challenge! This month, we have a fun challenge inspiration for you, Sequins Surprise! You can get all the details and link up your Sequins Surprise card over at House of cards right here: http://houseofcardschallenge.blogspot.com/

Use sequins and/or the color palette

I love these colorful sequins, and thought they would make a great shaker tag!

To create this tag, I tried something new. I stamped the pretty flower from Altenew’s Beautiful Day clear stamp set on a round piece of vellum paper, then gently heat embossed a light layer of sparkling embossing powder. You can see the sparkle a little bit in these two photos, but it looks amazing when you hold it in your hand!

The front of this tag really picks up the sun shine coming through the trees outside my craft room window. That’s because the front of the tag is not vellum, it’s regular shaker card acetate. Acetate on the front, vellum on the back, and the stamped flower and sequins, along with circle of foam, create a pretty shaker tag sandwich. This is what it looks like from the back.

Since the stamped flower is on the inside of the shaker, it’s protected from smudging and smearing. It looks so pretty hanging in a window too!
