Dies R Us Challenge #36: Fall

Dies R Us is back with a new challenge, Fall! Fall is so many things to so many people. Where I live, in the deep Southern U.S., the glorious flaming colors are a a bit rare. Where I grew up, not far from the Canadian border, there were two colors of winter, white and stick! But with our warm weather, many trees keep their green leaves all season. Some leaves just sort of shrink and shrivel up a little, or just turn brown, and hang on until a big rainstorm blows them away. So our fall colors are really quite tame, but pretty in their own way.

This is my interpretation of Fall! Even the scarf is a bit much–it’s 76 degrees now and going to hit 80 by 1:00pm! All the rain we’ve had lately has caused the humidity to skyrocket, and we had to put the air back on yesterday, because the house was so hot! But it is perfect SEC college football weather! Roll Tide!

You can head on over to the Dies R Us Blog and share your Fall inspiration right here: http://diesruschallenge.blogspot.com/2015/11/challenge-36-fall.html

Paper Sweeties October Inspiration #36

I love this pretty color palette in Paper Sweetie’s October Inspiration! I usually work with bright, vivid color, but I thinkĀ  I love these muted earth tones because they are so unique! Get all the details and play along right here: http://papersweeties.com/blog/paper-sweeties-inspiration-challenge-october-2015/

I found my inspiration is a few different elements: the straw reminded me of a wreath, and I was drawn to the wood panels and the pumpkin. Here is my earth toned take on the October Inspiration!

Colour Q Challenge #268

Imagine my surprise when the inspiration photo for this week’s Colour Q Challenge is a Vera Bradley Bag! I LOVE Vera, and I love feeling inspired by the rich autumn palette this week. When I think Vera, I think of super lush, full designs loaded with color and design. But this week, I focused on the colors in a clean and simple, delicate little sunflower, capturing the last few touches of color before the winter snows arrive.

Play along with Colour Q Challenge!

Poppystamps Challenge #2: Thankful

It’s time for another AMAZING challenge from Poppystamps! The theme for November is “Thankful,” and I’m thrilled to have so many wonderful Poppystamps dies to choose from. All you have to do is create your own “thankful” card, and link it up to the Poppystamps November website challenge on November 1. As long as you use at least one Poppystamps die, you will be entered for your chance to win a beautiful new steel-craft die. You’ll have to hop on over to the Poppystamps site to find out which one:

This CAS style card was created with my favorite fall color alcohol inks. I blended the colors from shades of yellow to shades of brown, let them dry completely, then cut out this beautiful leaf chain using the Leaf Silhouette die. I then cut the word “thank” from the Thank You Background, and then the word “ful” from the Scary Background and put them together to create “thankful.” I love the rich, saturated color of the alcohol inks against the crisp, clean white of the card. Join us over at the Poppystamps blog for more great inspiration and your chance to win some fabulous prizes!
