2018 Cat Lovers Hop Day 2

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Day 2 of the paw some 2018 Cat Lovers Hop! You can find some amazing kitty cat inspiration, link up your cat themed projects, play the daily cat game, and win some beautiful prizes over at Janis’s blog, Her Peaceful Garden, right over here: https://herpeacefulgarden.blogspot.com/2018/10/main-hop-post-2018-cat-lovers-hop.html

Today I have created a very special card for Friends of the Kitties around the world, especially those of us who live in very warm climates!  This card is inspired by my sister’s cat, Merlin, who loves to go out onto the lanai and lounge around the potted plants, then return with a lizard in his mouth! Have you ever tried to chase a lizard around the house? My kitties do not bring in lizards from my own lanai, but they do go bonkers when a lizard zips into the house when you open the door. What is the strangest thing your kitty has ever brought you?

All week long, I will be sharing cat themed cards in honor of the 2018 Cat Lovers Hop, and I have a special surprise! Just leave a comment and your email, on this post, or on any of my posts during the Cat Lovers Hop, and one lucky winner will be randomly drawn to win this paw some canvas pouch, filled with goodies all for you! Don’t worry, my friends, it will not contain any lizards!

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Cat Lovers Hop: October 26-30

Cat Lovers Hop - Graphic A

It’s time for a Cat Lovers Hop! Do you have a favorite cat themed project you have always wanted to try? Now is your chance! Get all the details and link up your project right here: http://herpeacefulgarden.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-cat-lovers-hop-is-here.html?showComment=1445869122799#c6013702837214994139

Today I am sharing a very special kitty Pocket Letter! I first heard about Pocket Letters from one of my favorite bloggers, and began making a few Autumn and Halloween themed PLs to swap. I like this fun art form, and have put my own spin on it too!

This PL was inspired by my Poppystamps DT friend, Jeanne Jachna, who has her beautiful projects all over the blogosphere! Jeanne created a bright color block cat card for one of the Poppystamps Look Books, and I have wanted to try that idea from the first moment I laid eyes on it! Since the PL has nine separate pockets, I used nine kitty die cuts and panels for my project. Thanks for the great inspiration, Jeanne!

This is the back of the Pocket Letter. Traditionally, the back pockets are used to include little goodies, embellishments, sequins, twine, charms, a letter about yourself, and even tea or an edible treat! I made nine tiny envelopes and filled each one with a special “people treatie” for my Cat Lover Hop winner!

That’s right, I said winner, because one randomly selected commentator will win this kitty themed Pocket Letter

All you have to do is leave a comment, and be sure to include your email too, so that I can get your snail mail address after the hop closes. The winner also has the option of creating their own kitty Pocket Letter and swapping with me in a one-time exchange true PL tradition! I would love to see your work! In the meantime, I’ll be over at Her Peaceful Garden, checking out all the great kitty inspiration this week!

Thanks for joining me today!

Tag You’re It Challenge #33

TYIC #33

Tag You’re It has a new challenge this week! How many of you are fans of the movie, Elf?  Buddy the Elf declares that there are are four food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup. Kara Lynne’s inspiration tag reminds me of the food group that kicks off the holiday candy season, candy corn! I always think about Halloween when I see candy corn! You can get all of the details and play along right here: http://tagyoureitchallenge.blogspot.com/2015/10/tag-youre-it-challenge-33.html

I love the colors of candy corn, even though I do not eat those tiny tri-color triangles! When I was about 12 years old, my friend Lisa and I pooled our money and went down to the candy store. I wanted a variety of things, but Lisa insisted on candy corn, ALL candy corn! Do you have any idea how much candy corn you could buy for $2.50? Somewhere in the neighborhood of SIX POUNDS! We took our candy corn booty bag down to the river and sat on a park bench and ate candy corn until I had a tummy ache. I told Lisa to take the bag home but she refused, so I brought it home and my mom put it in a big bowl for the family. I think we had candy corn in that bowl until Easter! I never wanted to eat another piece of candy corn in my life! I do like the color though, and it will always remind me of autumn in Wisconsin, which is a beautiful season!

Thanks for joining me today, and please, enjoy your candy corn responsibly!

Crafting With Cats

Today’s blog is brought to you by the letter M and the kitties Fuzzy, Omar, Felix and Max!

I am often asked, “What’s it like working from home and crafting with cats!? ” Well, it’s like trying to do ANYTHING when you have four furry felines up in your business as you go about your day, and crafting is no different.

Most of the time, they just curl up and try to snooze, especially in the afternoon when the sun streams right in through the window!

Sometimes, they just want to come up and say hello, and let you get that perfect kitty portrait!

They ALL love it when I set up for the photo shoots. All four of them like to stretch out on the backdrop like models.

Even when the backdrop is rolled up, they still will take the opportunity to stretch out on whatever is underneath them at the time.

Felix would rather stretch out on my arm when I’m trying to blog hop. I’m getting good at typing with just my left hand!

Some days, I deal with all four, one at a time, all day long like a parade. Most often, however, they’ll trot in one kitty at a time, then try to be helpful. Or they steal my chair or nap on my keyboard.

They always want to surprise me too! I had the balloon card all set up and was ready to shoot when Fuzzy just jumped up and plopped himself down for a snooze.

Moments later, Max did the very same thing, knocking the card off the easel then trying to rub his head on the camera. Those black lines are his whiskers! Would you believe I have shot dozens of photos of cards askew on the easel, with a black blurry paw, face, or tail somewhere in the frame?

As much as I LOVE my kitties, they CAN be destructive though. Everything, from tools to paper to finished cards, is carefully stowed away in its place when I’m not supervising the craft room. Max, however, loves rummaging in the large bag I use for all the die cutting scraps. It’s the one thing he’s allowed to play with, but he never stops trying to abscond with something new.

In the end, they all just want to be around me, and I love having them around! I put up with 16 furry paws and they put up with glitter and sequins in their fur!

Thanks for dropping by!
