Fusion Card Challenge: The Harbor

Hello Everybody!

Today I am FINALLY playing along with this week’s new challenge from Fusion, The Harbor! There’s still a (very) little time left to join in on the fun, but you better hurry! Take a look at the inspiration photo, then head on over to the Fusion blog to link up your Harbor-inspired card right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/05/fusion-harbour.html

There are so many elements that I just love about this photo! The lighthouse, the colors, the  boats, the dark sky, the bright red mooring rings, it just all looks so cool. Here in South Florida, it’s been raining hard for DAYS now, and more is on the way, so my harbor card had to be about a stormy day. I mostly used elements from the photo, playing with color, and didn’t do much about the sentiment. I guess that’s just my style. I love blank cards, which allows me to write anything I like on the inside.

Thanks so much for joining me today!

Big Little Love with Fusion

Hello Everybody!

I am so happy to be playing along with the latest challenge from Fusion! I have been so busy these past few weeks, I have only been able to take in all the beautiful inspiration from the Fusion designers and the talented folks playing along! Today I had some time to make this adorable little elephant card, bringing you lots of love! There’s still a little time to play along with the Fusion Card Challenge right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/04/fusion-babys-room.html

I created this card by combining a few elements from both the sketch and the photo, so this week I have a Fusion! I liked the big circle element right in the center, the sentiment, and the little blue hearts, which I imagined as a band extending from the love in the center. I added the elephant, and the light blue, grey, and white from the photo. This little guy with the big ears is sending you all his love!

Fusion Challenge: Coffee and a Book

Hello Everyone!

Today I am playing along with this week’s Fusion Challenge, Coffee and a Book! You can link up your coffee and book card and find more great ideas over at the Fusion blog right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/01/fusion-coffee-and-book.html

To create my card, which is a little similar to a coffee card I posted a few days ago, I used a very broad interpretation of the sketch and a photo, going for a little fusion! I didn’t think my last card brought in the book element of the fusion, which turned out to be a challenge. I just can’t find a really good die of a book, or a stack of books. If someone in blogland has a favorite book themed die, please let me know!

I drew some inspiration form the sketch, changing the shape of the rectangle to a circle, and turning the horizontal shape into a vertical one by adding a pencil. I added a tea cup and put it all against some pretty retro paper. The round shapes remind me of coffee beans!

I LOVE to read, and I read a lot. Who are your favorites? I love mysteries, British whodunits like Agatha Christie are a classic read. I also love Scandinavian mystery too, like Lene Kaaberbel, and other mystery authors like Donna Andrews, Christopher Fowler, Ngaio Marsh, and Alan Bradley. Yesterday my hubbie picked me up a new book from the library, Whose Body, by Dorothy Sayers. I just heard about Sayers and her collection and I can’t wait to give her a try. I also read (and write) a lot of letters. My friend Jerry is a wonderful writer and a great adventurer, and you can always find me curled up with one of Jerry’s letters and a hot cup of cocoa. So, this card is on its way to Jerry! Surprise! (He reads my blog too – -how great of a guy is that?) I have always though of Jerry of my creative muse, who has a terrific sense of style, design, and a great eye.

Take some time for yourself and do a little reading every single day . .   a little reading,  a little crafting, a little coffee, a little public television, a little nature walking, a little conversation, a little pet time, a little more hubbie time, . . . . who has time for anything else? Enjoy your day!

Fusion Card Challenge

Hello Everyone!

This is such a pretty inspiration photo, featuring a dark blue background and that bright pop of color with those leaves! I love those shades of yellowy orange! I tried to capture the bright leaves, and include a little sentiment that reminds us of how wonderful November can be!

Fusion Card Challenge

Hello Everybody!

I think I am just under the wire, but I had to play along with this week’s fun Fusion Challenge, Pastel Pencils! When I first saw the inspiration photo, I started working on it, but every time I sat down to work, I was distracted with other tasks. But something about these colorful pencils in a cup really spoke to me. You can get all the details and play along (if you hurry), over at The Fusion Challenge blog right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2017/08/fusion-pastel-pencils.html

This month, my hubbie and I received some news that came as a bit of a shock. After 19 years with his company, he and his entire department were eliminated, downsized, let go. It’s devastating to think that after picking up everything and moving down South here to Alabama a few years ago, that we would be starting all over once again.  Our plan is to relocate to a new location, and we have a few places in mind. I may be blogging a little less over the next few weeks, but we sure would appreciate you sending your prayers and thoughts and good luck charms our way! We are hoping and praying that this shut door will open a new window of opportunity for us very, very soon!

I made this card while thinking about my hubbie and I. We both are creative, artistic souls. He worked his way up as a talented graphic designer to the production supervisor, so I guess a little bit of ink and bling is a part of us, running through our veins like life blood. Despite this setback, we will keep going, living our lives in color. We appreciate all the love and support you have given to us both and to Crimson Owl Creations.

Here is the list of dies that I have used:

Paper Smooches: Mason Jars

Papertrey Ink: Pencil me In

Sugar Pea Designs: Sugar Cut Heartbeat
