Floral Cupcakes with Fusion

Hello Crafty Friends!

I had a little bit of extra time this weekend, so today I am sharing a fun new-to-me technique and playing along with the Fusion card challenge, Floral Cupcakes. You can play along, link up your card, and see the inspiring projects from Fusion’s design team over on their blog right here https://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/07/fusion-floral-cupcakes.html

I decided to create a fusion by using elements from both the sketch and the inspiration photo. At first, I cut out a few flowers from one of my favorite layered flower die sets and arranged them into a cool grid pattern. It looked amazing, but it also looked a lot like another designer’s idea, so I went for something different.

I took a shallow, glass baking dish and added about an inch or two of water. Then I took fingernail polish bottles and added a few drops and drizzles to the water. The polish floats on top! You can take a toothpick and swirl the colors a bit to create these beautiful swirling, marbled designs, but don’t mix too much. You want to create swirls, not mix it all together. Then I took a square of watercolor paper and gently floated it down into the water from one side, and then lifted the paper up, catching all the polish floating on top. After it dried, I had swirly pink marble! I cut the paper into tiny squares and adhered them onto my card panel. Then I added a sweet sentiment and a few flowers. Pretty in pink!

This was a fun way to beat the heat, imagining a pretty rose garden with a beautiful breeze!

Fusion Challenge At the Beach

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I am sharing a really fun card for the latest challenge from Fusion! I love the inspiration photo that showed a little surfboard, so, SURF’S UP! You can get all the details, and link up  your favorite beach scene over at the Fusion Card Challenge Blog right here: https://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/05/fusion-beach.html

I live on the Atlantic coast, so I love to walk along the beach picking up a few shells and watching the waves roll in, especially right before a storm, which is the best surf weather too! I had fun playing around with a few different paper optical illusions to create a rolling surf. It’s time for a little fun at the beach!

You Are Enough with Fusion

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so happy you dropped by today! Today I am sharing a very special card I created for this week’s Fusion Challenge, You Are Enough! You can link up your own inspired creation, and see great ideas from the Fusion Design team, over on the Fusion blog right here: https://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/05/fusion-enough.html

I was really inspired by the photo, so I brought out my alcohol inks and did a little playing around, trying a few new and old techniques, like blowing with a straw and dribbling. I really love the way it turned out, and I have a list of people I’d love to send this to! I may have to make a few more!

Bunny Hugs with Fusion

Hi Crafty Friends!

Today I am sharing a brand new card I created for this week’s challenge over at Fusion, Gnomes! You can join in on the fun and be inspired y these darling Gnomes over on the Fusion blog right here: https://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/04/fusion-gnomes.html

Now I know the challenge is Gnomes, but my card features colorful bunnies! First of all, I wanted that trendy new die that is popping up all over Blogland that features, yes, you said it, GNOMES! I just could not get it here on time. So, I found this amazing and brand new die called Topside Bunny, and I let myself be inspired by the colors and the noses of these Easter Gnomes! I fell in love with this new die too!  This card sure makes me smile too!

Spruce Up Your Place with Fusion

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am thrilled that you have dropped by today, because I am playing along with the latest challenge from Fusion, Decor! This week, the inspiration photo was a tough one, I am not going to lie! I tried to play around with a few things but then I just decided i would make something with two brand new dies I just received in the mail, and find my inspiration from the photo. You can link up your own Decor inspired card over at Fusion right here: https://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/02/fusion-decor.html

I like the look of this office, so clean, smooth lines, hard angles, very contemporary. So that’s what I included in my card too, hard angles, crisp white color, and, as a gardener, how could any space in my life NOT include a plant? This was a great opportunity to try out two new crafty goodies!

Let it Snow with Fusion

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am SO happy to be playing along with one of my favorite creative challenges, Fusion! In 2019, I started a brand new job! I work for an organization that is dedicated to helping all youth, especially those that need us the most, to become caring, productive, responsible citizens. It is not easy, but it is so rewarding. The kids keep me busy after school, and keep me exhausted after work! But one of MY goals for 2020 is to get back to crafting as much as I’d like, and find the perfect balance between crafty life and working life! So I am starting that with the very first Fusion challenge of 2020, Winter! Take a look!

You can play along with the Fusion challenge, and enter your beautiful Winter inspired creation over at the Fusion blog right here: https://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2020/01/fusion-winter.html

I took my inspiration from the photo. I love the black and white color palette, the tiny winter cabin, and the single word at the top, Winter. I grew up in Wisconsin, our house way out in the country, surrounded by tall pines and snow all winter long! I never liked the cold, but I did love waking up on those cold Winter mornings and seeing everything covered in a blanket of white! Tiny animal tracks would crisscross over the front yard, and even the tiniest speck of color would catch your eye. That has always been my idea of Winter.

Cheery Eggs with Fusion

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so glad you could join us today with the latest from Fusion Card Challenge, Cheery Eggs! I was so inspired by these bold, bright, colorful eggs, I just had to add them to this card! Sadly, I have been SO sick with the worst cold ever, that it took me almost a week to make this! I’d cut an egg, then rest for a while, cut an egg and make some tea, cut an egg and then just zone out with Netflix for a while. The REAL cheer for me is actually finishing this simple card in time to make the close! You can get all the details and link up your cheery eggs over at The Fusion Blog right here: https://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/04/fusion-cheery-eggs.html

Fusion Challenge: Penguin Love

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I am playing along with this week’s challenge over at Fusion, Penguin Love! The temperatures have been so chilly lately, that these cute penguins in their winter hats seemed the  perfect choice! You can get all the details, link up your penguin love card, and see more adorable penguin love inspiration over at Fusion right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/01/fusion-penguin-love.html

I was really inspired by the photo itself, and the beautiful yellow and orange colors on the penguins! I thought about how I could bring these orange and yellow shades to life in a sea of black of white! There’s nothing like a little color therapy on a cold day too!

Fusion Challenge: Christmas Eve Ride

Hello Everyone!

Today I am sharing a card that I have created for the latest challenge over on Fusion, Christmas Eve Ride! You can get all the details, see some great inspiration, and enter your card over on the Fusion blog right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/12/fusion-christmas-eve-ride.html

I was inspired mostly from the inspiration photo, and fell in love with this unique cityscape design. There is just so much going on in the photo, with little houses, lots of windows, tiny trees,  snow, a big moon, and of course, Santa in the sleigh! I love the contest of a chaotic city, yet it so looks so peaceful and calm! So I created a tiny chaotic city scene, with an alcohol ink background, peacefully waiting for Santa! I just love the idea that Santa comes for just about everybody, from the crowded cities to the expansive countrysides, all over the world!
