The Heart Desires Challenge #5

Halloween Pocket Letters

Happy Halloween! It’s time to get your Boo on and get to the candy! Today I’m sharing two Pocket Letters I recently swapped! They are on their way, way out West! The first PL uses all the spooky traditional Halloween colors we love so much!

I decided to try something “artsy” for the second PL, and used an orange and white color palette. All the envelopes in the back pockets are white with an orange die cut on it, to match the theme of the front, like a skull or a ghost or a pumpkin. Making these two were a lot of fun.

Tag You’re It Challenge #33

Tag You’re It has a new challenge this week! How many of you are fans of the movie, Elf?  Buddy the Elf declares that there are are four food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup. Kara Lynne’s inspiration tag reminds me of the food group that kicks off the holiday candy season, candy corn! I always think about Halloween when I see candy corn! I love the colors of candy corn, even though I do not eat those tiny tri-color triangles! When I was about 12 years old, my friend Lisa and I pooled our money and went down to the candy store. I wanted a variety of things, but Lisa insisted on candy corn, ALL candy corn! Do you have any idea how much candy corn you could buy for $2.50? Somewhere in the neighborhood of SIX POUNDS! We took our candy corn booty bag down to the river and sat on a park bench and ate candy corn until I had a tummy ache. I told Lisa to take the bag home but she refused, so I brought it home and my mom put it in a big bowl for the family. I think we had candy corn in that bowl until Easter! I never wanted to eat another piece of candy corn in my life! I do like the color though, and it will always remind me of autumn in Wisconsin, which is a beautiful season!

DoubleClick Skittles Challenge #33

I just love spooky Halloween colors, and challenges where I get to get my boo on! Today I’m playing along with DoubleClick Skittles! You can get all the details and play along right here: http://doubleclickconnections.blogspot.com/2015/10/spooky-fun-challenge-here-at_18.html

I went with a fun CAS inspired Halloween card. As a paper artist ( I never really liked the term paper piecer), the phrase CAS is a bit of an enigma. A “clean and simple” card featuring lots of white space can often involve not only lots of die cuts, but a lot of precision cutting, layering, and glue and tweezer work too! Sometimes there’s nothing simple about it! But I do love the look of a “clean” card, with a crisp white background that makes those colors pop. Today, I’ve made one of those cards, and so I call it CAS inspired! It’s got lots of white space and only 8 die cuts! And of course, a few of these amazing Skittles! I must order a few bags  – – I need some in every color!
