Merry Christmas with The 12 Tags of Christmas

Hello Crafty Christmas friends!

Today I am sharing a tag that I have created for The 12 Tags of Christmas 2020! I have really enjoyed this new twist of holiday tags this year, sponsored by Ellen Hutson. You can get all the details and link up your holiday tag, inspired by a classic Christmas song, over on Ellen Hutson’s blog right here https://blog.ellenhutson.com/2020/12/01/welcome-to-12-tags-of-christmas-2020-challenge/

Today’s challenge is We Wish You a Merry Christmas! Whenever I hear this song, I immediately think of a group of people singing this classic tune, like Christmas carolers, TV sit-coms, the office work party! The idea of a herd of cats singing this song under the tree is so jolly to me! I just had to add it on my own tag too!

My tag is inspired by We Wish You a Merry Christmas, from Day 8.

Marshmallow World with The 12 Tags of Christmas

Hello Crafty Christmas friends!

Today I am playing along with The 12 Tags of Christmas, sponsored by Ellen Hutson! The challenge is easy! All you have to do is create a tag inspired by the day’s Christmas carol! You can get all the details and link up your holiday tag over on Ellen Hutson’s blog right here https://blog.ellenhutson.com/2020/12/01/welcome-to-12-tags-of-christmas-2020-challenge/

Have you ever really listened to the words of It’s A Marshmallow World, famously recorded by Dean Martin? It’s a fun, snappy, tune, but beyond the first line I never really paid attention to the lyrics. I checked it out to discover this gem:

“Those are marshmallow clouds being friendly, in the arms of the evergreen trees.

And the sun is red, like a pumpkin head. It’s shining so your nose don’t freeze.”

What a great visual image! In fact, the entire song is about marshmallows, whipped cream, and a happy day with your favorite gal. I just had to create a happy, marshmallow world with the clouds in the arms of the evergreen green. I will never look at clouds the same way again!

My card is inspired by It’s A Marshmallow World, Day 7.

Home For the Holidays with The 12 Tags of Christmas

Hello Crafty Christmas friends!

Today I am sharing a tag that I have created for The 12 Tags of Christmas, sponsored by Ellen Hutson. You can get all the details and link up your Christmas carol inspired tag over at Ellen Hutson’s blog right here https://blog.ellenhutson.com/2020/12/01/welcome-to-12-tags-of-christmas-2020-challenge/

Today’s tag was inspired by Home for the Holidays, from Day 6.

Most of my family lives in Wisconsin, so going “home” for the holidays always meant traveling to a wintery Christmas. I have spent many, many Christmas seasons traveling by planes, trains, and automobiles, to and from some very exotic places. But my Christmas home and our family traditions have mostly remained unchanged over the years. The family home on the hill, the white snow, the tall snowy pines, the favorite holiday light in my small hometown, all remind me that there truly is no place like Home for the Holidays.

White Christmas with The 12 Tags of Christmas

Hello Crafty Christmas friends!

Today, I am sharing a tag that I have created for Ellen Hutson’s 12 Days of Christmas Tags! You can get all the details and link up your Christmas Carol tag over on Ellen Hutson’s blog right here https://blog.ellenhutson.com/2020/12/01/welcome-to-12-tags-of-christmas-2020-challenge/

Today’s tag is inspired by White Christmas, Day 5.

Today’s challenge is White Christmas! I grew up in Wisconsin, so a white Christmas was pretty white! I love the line, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know.” The ones I used to know meant miles and miles of snow-white forests, with tiny pops of color here and there. We would get a TON of snow every years Christmas always meant snow!

I created a snowy winter forest scene that could have come right out of my back yard! Wherever you are, have a wonderful Christmas this year!

Sleigh Ride with The 12 Tags of Christmas 2020

Hello Crafty Christmas Friends!

Today I am playing along with Ellen Hutson and The 12 Tags of Christmas 2020! This year, the challenge is to create a tag inspired by the day’s song. You can get all the details and link up your holiday tag over on Ellen Hutson’s blog right here https://blog.ellenhutson.com/2020/12/01/welcome-to-12-tags-of-christmas-2020-challenge/

Today, my tag is inspired by Day 4, Sleigh Ride!

Where I grew up, even in snowy Wisconsin, a horse-drawn sleigh was a very rare and special event! But everyone I knew I had large pick-up trucks, with huge snow tires, and jumper cables, and chains and sandbags too! We’d get all comfy cozy in the cab of a big red Ford and deliver packages, and bring home trees, and plow out driveways for neighbors calling you hoo! Even in a blizzard, it was lovely weather for a modern-day sleigh ride together with you!

Here Comes Santa Claus with the 12 Tags of Christmas

Hello Crafty Christmas friends!

Today I am playing along with The 12 Tags of Christmas, sponsored by Ellen Hutson. The challenge is simple. Create a tag inspired by the day’s Christmas Carol. You can get all the details and link up your holiday tag over on Ellen Hutson’s blog right here https://blog.ellenhutson.com/2020/12/01/welcome-to-12-tags-of-christmas-2020-challenge/

My tag is inspired by Here Comes Santa Claus, Day 3.

I made a tag with Santa and his Christmas kitty looking out the window. He’s watching the elves harness up Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer, then he’ll grab his Tervis and kiss Mrs. Claus goodnight. Just like the rest of us, Santa has a job to do.

Was it Always a Lamb? The 12 Tags of Christmas

Hello Crafty Christmas Friends!

Today I am sharing a tag that I created for The 12 Tags of Christmas with Ellen Hutson! Every day, the challenge is to create a tag inspired by the day’s Christmas Carol. Today’s Christmas carol is The Little Drummer Boy. You can get all the details and link up your holiday tag over on Ellen Hutson’s blog right here https://blog.ellenhutson.com/2020/12/01/welcome-to-12-tags-of-christmas-2020-challenge/

For me, the real challenge in making tags on the fly is the risk that you just don’t have a die of anything you need. For example, I don’t have a drum, or a drummer for that matter. How can I be inspired by The Little Drummer Boy? I started singing the song to myself and got as far as, ‘I am a poor boy too,” which always brings on the sentimental tears, for it truly is the heart of the song, the poor boy who could not afford a fancy gift and asks to play his drum. It’s about giving of ourselves, and recognizing how truly precious a real gift from the heart can be. Well, I was back to not having a small, “poor boy” crafting die either, and what would that look like, anyway?

I brought up the lyrics and took a look online. When I was a Girl Scout, in a Catholic school, we sang a lot of pa rum pa pum pums in assisted living centers every year, and I swore the line was, “the ox and ass kept time, pa rum pa pum pum.” No ox, and no ass dies either. But here’s my crafty Christmas miracle! The NEW modern lyrics are, ‘the ox and LAMB kept time,” I guess too many teachers had enough of children’s giggles at the mention of the word ass, so the donkey got the boot, replaced by the lamb.

So here is my tag, for The Little Drummer Boy, Day 2. Brilliant! (wink wink!)

The 12 Tags of Christmas 2020 with Ellen Hutson

Hello Crafty Christmas Friends!

I am back with more TAGS! Yazzzz, girlfriends, it’s time for the 12 Days of Christmas Tags 2020 with Ellen Hutson. Each day, the challenge is to create a tag inspired by one of 12 Christmas carols. Today I am sharing a tag that I created for Day 1, Silver Bells! You can get all the details and link up your holiday tags over on Ellen Hutson’s blog right here https://blog.ellenhutson.com

We all know the classic song, “Silver Bells.” I used to live in a very big city, and the first thing this song brings to mind is the line, “it’s Christmas time in the city.” There’s even a line about how the streetlights blink red and green too. So my tag reflects Christmastime in the city, where on every street corner you hear the silver bells.

Now it’s time to see how all of you were inspired by this holiday classic!
