Autumn Bounty with The Card Concept

Hello Crafty Friends!

We have got an ah-ma-zing challenge over on The Card Concept Blog this week, Autumn Bounty! This is one of my favorite inspiration photos. I just love those familiar shiny buckets that will always remind me of gardening, and those colorful little gourds and pumpkins! Nothing says Autumn to me like those patty pan, acorn, butternut, spaghetti, gooseneck, Turkish Turban, and tiny pumpkins you will find at every farmer’s market and supermarket display every October! I made tiny little gourds and pumpkins, and a tiny seed packet and threw it all together for my Freestyle Collage card! You can see more great inspiration and ideas, and link up your Autumn Bounty project over on The Card Concept blog right here https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

It’s so easy to play along at a Card Concept challenge too! Just create an Autumn Bounty card and link it up! We can’t wait to see what you’ll create!

Fanciful Fall with The Card Concept #140

Hello Crafty Friends!

Autumn has officially begun, which makes this week’s inspiration photo on The card Concept, Fanciful Fall, just so perfect! This week’s challenge is a bright and fanciful challenge to play around with, and we would LOVE to see you all join in! You can get all the details, read up on our different styles, and link up your Fanciful Fall design over on The Card Concept right here https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I love this week’s inspiration so much, I even tried to order  a very special die to create some fanciful leaves. But the company was sold out! So then I bought this gorgeous set from Memory Box,  Scribble Leaf Bundle Outline, which I immediately fell in love with! Then, suddenly, last week, I received a notification that the “very special die” I originally wanted was back in stock! I ordered it immediately, hoping it would arrive in time to use for Fanciful Fall. It did arrive in time, yesterday afternoon while I was working on a huge garden clean-up project at a community organization I am a part of.  All day long, our coastal Florida city was hit with gale-force winds, high tides, and flooding. It made for a cooler day and an escape from the mugginess, but all day long I watched as giant pruned banana tree leaves we had in a neat pile blew across our garden beds, and the bags of dusty red mulch we had lovingly spread over the new walkways flew into the milkweed bed we had just weeded, filled with monarch butterflies dodging the barrage. I returned home exhausted, and quickly tore open the happy mail envelope waiting for me on the counter. And I LOVED the new die set that I knew would be so perfect for this card.

But you know what? I also loved the Scribble Leaf Bundle Outline too, and the light and airy leaves floating in air in a clear blue-sky  card I created too. With a CAS look of artsy sketched leaves in shiny cardstock, I thought it was just the right card for this Fanciful Fall day. Nothing ever turns out as we plan, or even expect, but there is beauty and joy in accomplishing the work that drives our soul, even in these challenging times.

Now it’s your turn to create your own Fanciful Fall work of art!

Welcome Back to The Card Concept #139

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so glad you dropped by today because we are starting our brand new season with The Card Concept! Check it all out over on The Card Concept’s blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/2020/09/the-card-concept-139-summer-harvest.html

I was super inspired by that big and bright container of colorful sunflowers! That is so beautiful and the perfect setting in this modern country kitchen. I used some of the summer colors from the photo, adding apples and a little white country mouse. I wanted the look to be clean and layered, but full of tiny details too.

Now it’s your turn to create something to show off your summer harvest! Link up your design over on The Card Concept blog!

Dog Days of Summer with The Card Concept #138c

Hello Crafty Friends!

Welcome to our special Summer Edition of The Card Concept! This week, we have an adorable challenge inspiration for Dog Days of Summer! You can get all the details and link up your Dog Days project over on The Card Concept blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I LOVE anything that has anything to do with Dog Days of Summer! It’s a great phrase, and most of us have probably heard that it comes from the Dog Star, Sirius, as it makes its mark in August. Growing up in Wisconsin, we never went swimming in August because it was “dog days.” I always thought that meant that the water in the lakes and rivers began to get funny because of all the leaves and bits that were floating in the water, and only the dogs liked to swim in it. But since August is my birthday month, I like to think that this month belongs to the dogs, and the women who run with them. This challenge is for all the ultra-chic doggies out there this month!

What is more ultra-chic than this cool doggie on a Vespa? Super CAS with a bold shot of red, this little doggie is on his way!

We’d love to see what you’ll create for your Dog Days project! Link it up over on The Card Concept and take a ride with the cool kids!

Christmas in July with The Card Concept

Hello Crafty Friends!

Summer is definitely here! In fact, Summer is almost here and gone, as students talk about going back to school, either virtually or “old school” in person! But there’s still a little time for one more summer holiday, so we are celebrating Christmas in July with The Card Concept Challenge 138b. You can get all the details, and play along with our current challenge right here https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I love the colors in this week’s inspiration photo, and I love how many teeny tiny surprise elements you can find like tiny treasures buried in the sand. I was inspired to create a sea-themed Christmas card for my Clean and Layered look.

Christmas in Florida looks a lot like this! Even in December, we have big leafy ferns and tropical bushes right out the window, and sunny December days. Sea themed decorations are really popular too. I pulled out a FAVORITE die that I have been using quite a bit lately to look like a typical holiday scene. Hooray, it’s Christmas time!

We’d love to see what you’ll create too! Make a Christmas in July card in one of our fun styles and link it up! Hooray, it’s time to celebrate!

Summer Fun with The Card Concept #138

Welcome to some Summer Fun with this week’s challenge from The Card Concept, Summer Fun! When I saw this inspiration photo a few weeks ago, I took a quick glance and thought it was a patriotic table setting in red, white, and blue! But when I started working I took a closer look and to my delight, I discovered this awesome sea theme! Take a look!

I love these summer colors, and the bright blues, crisp whites, and a splash of red! I used them all in my super simple Clean and Layered card. You can find more great inspiration and ideas, and link up your Summer Fun card over at The card Concept right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

Summer Fun sea colors like these always remind me of New England,  Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and a table full of lobster rolls and crab cakes! Summer in New England always feel like VACATION, since I now live in Florida. Summer Fun by the sea in Florida here has an entirely different color palette! I wishI could add one of those North Atlantic giant squids or a kraken from an old whaling map to really make this feel more old New England! But instead I found some fun background pattern paper with tiny rows of anchors , and a few little sea friends from the Poppystamps Whittle animals collection. I added a few cuts and and a few sea colored sequins for a Clean and Layered look.

Now it’s your turn! Show us your Summer Fun designs, and link them up over on The Card Concept!

Bright Florals with The Card Concept

Hello Crafty Friends!

Have you seen the AMAZING photo inspiration from The Card Concept this week? Our theme is Bright Florals, and our design team is sharing some of the boldest and brightest florals in town! You can see the team’s awesome designs, get all the details, and link up your Bright Florals creation over on The Card Concept right here https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I really fell in love with the gorgeous blue textured wall in this photo, and started out with that! I used the brand new Chrysanthemum Field 3D Embossing Folder from Poppystamps, and created the pretty blue card background, then just stared at it for days! Finally, I tried another brand new crafty treat for me, the HANDS die from Julie Ebersole with Essentials by Ellen. I have seen this pretty die popping up all over blogland lately, and then was encouraged by my friend Michele from I Card Everyone to add this die to my collection. I wanted to create an image of joy and abundance, two arms clutching a giant bouquet!

Now it’s your turn! Show us how you are inspired by today’s Bright Florals challenge, and link up your project over on The Card Concept!
