Holiday Baubles with The Card Concept

Hello Crafty Friends!

Welcome to our newest challenge from The Card Concept, Holiday Baubles! Have you seen the beautiful ornament-inspired ideas from our amazing design team? They all inspire me every month! Our challenge photo features shiny, vintage ornaments in shades of pretty teal, turquoise, blue, and white. You can see the design team’s projects, and enter your inspired Holiday Baubles card over at The Card Concept right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I was so inspired by these lovely vintage ornaments that feature the etched snow-white details, and fell in love with the pretty snowflake star on the top ornament.  I used the amazing new die from Poppystamps, Leafy Snowflake Frame, to create these two little square cards that are the perfect size for a quick thank you note or even a holiday tag. I almost used foil paper, but instead selected a yardstick with a pretty sheen to it for a subtle shine for my Clean and Layered card..

Now it’s your turn! What will you create, shiny foil ornaments, or vintage charm? Shabby chic or Classy and Elegant? Use one of our style ideas or create something all your own, it’s up to you. Link it up over on The Card Concept.

Thanks so much for joining us today.

Thanksgiving Table with The card Concept #123

Hello Crafty Friends!

Thank you so much for popping in today and taking a look at what I have for you  with our newest challenge from The Card Concept, Thanksgiving Table!  You can find more great inspiration and beautiful ideas from our Design Team, and link up your Thanksgiving Table project over at The Card Concept right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/2019/10/the-card-concept-122-bountiful.html

Our inspiration photo has everything to do with a beautiful Thanksgiving Table, but what about my Clean and Layered old pick-up truck filled with pumpkins? Years ago, right before Thanksgiving, we were driving across the state of Alabama right after the sun had risen. It was a beautiful, warm, November morning, and we had just pulled into a gas station somewhere in the middle of cotton country. I was about to go inside and grab some coffee when I saw an old, blue, pick-up truck pull into the station. In the back was a GIANT pumpkin! Not just a big pumpkin, but a GIANT pumpkin, like one of those record-setting contest winners you see on TV. The gas station was surprisingly busy, and people had begun to gather around the truck and ask about the pumpkin. Ever since then, whenever I think about Thanksgiving, I think about that old pumpkin truck, about the rich, bountiful harvest fortunate Americans are able to celebrate every year, and the many blessings we all give thanks for in November. So I used the bright autumn colors and the pumpkin from the inspiration photo in my Clean and Layered “Thanksgiving Table.”

Now it’s your turn! Show us your favorite Thanksgiving memory, or start a new tradition with your version of a Thanksgiving Table, created in one of our styles or your favorite combination!

The Card Concept returns with Challenge #119!

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so happy to announce that The Card Concept has returned for another creative season! We are kicking things off with Challenge #119, Beautiful Butterflies! It’s so easy to play along with The Card Concept. Every two weeks, we show you a fabulous inspiration photo, and invite you to create a card that shows off one of amazing card styles! Pick one style, or mix and match, then share your creations over on The Card Concept blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

What’s more inspiring than these beautiful butterflies? They look like they have been painted with watercolors! I really love the fresh greens and cheerful pinks, and brought them into my mixed media design. I wanted a CAS look with the details of the different media.

I created the background with watercolor paints, then added a few sequins. The fun part, of course, is the butterflies themselves, which I created out of alcohol inks and YUPO paper. The blended colors of the alcohol inks are perfect for butterfly wings, and the look is so much prettier in “real life” than in these photos. How about giving alcohol inks a try?

Take a look at all of the wonderful inspiration over on The Card Concept today, and meet the 2019/2020 Design team!

Pink Retro with The Card Concept #116

Hello Crafty Friends!

We are so happy you could join us today for another great challenge from The Card Concept! This week, the theme is Pink Retro, and I thought way outside the box! Welcome to old Florida, where old pickup trucks are the new trend, and those iconic pink flamingos are now in a lot more shades than just pink! I was really inspired by the idea of the whole theme, and that beautiful contrast of pink and black. I had to throw in a little nod to the celebration of music too. You can find my design, along with some really amazing projects from our design team over on The Card Concept blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

My card is Clean and Layered, or maybe even Clean and Graphic, but we want to see your take on Pink Retro. You can enter your project over on The Card Concept Blog!
