Romantic Roses with The Card Concept Challenge #76

Hello Everyone!

It’s time for our latest challenge over at The Card Concept! This week’s inspiration photo is a real American Beauty, Romantic Roses! You can get all the details how to play along and link up your creation over at The Card Concept blog right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/

I love the deep, rich red color of these roses, and also the unusual placement on the background.  Is that a window shutter?  I made a Clean and Layered card by using a tiny spiral die to create red rolled roses in a window box. It’s a very simple CAS design, with the focus right on the roses. It’s a very romantic morning at the house!

Thanks so much for joining us today, and all season long with The Card Concept!

Right at Home with The Card Concept #75

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to The Card Concept Challenge #75! We have a great challenge for you this week with a beautiful inspiration photo! For me, inspiration photos that feature a room are some of the most challenging. Sometimes there are dozens of little objects or details that can make it hard to focus. Other times, there may be too little to find inspiration other than colors or shapes. So for this week’s challenge, I tried to capture the sophisticated and elegant mood of the dining room, along with the eye-grabbing flowers, and of course, the idea of “home.”  How does the inspiration photo challenge and inspire you? Link up your creation over at The Card Concept Blog right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/

To create my Classy and Elegant, Mixed Media Freestyle Collage card, I started by making a base out of paper “tiles” I created by marbleizing paper with nail polish! I love the shimmery, glittery effect when the light hits it. I made a small stack of marbleized papers a while ago, and thought one of those sheets would be perfect for this card.

I used the sheet on the bottom right, which featured shades of gold, bronze, and violet red, and cut them into tiles. Then I stamped the gorgeous Beautiful Day flower from Altenew onto a crisp white sheet of cardstock. I took a large word die that reads “home” and carefully secured it in place with a little removable tape on top of the flower and ran it through my machine. Then I cut off all the white space around the flower, cut out a few more “home” cuts and stacked them up, then carefully pieced it all together on my card base. When everything was in place and dry, I added some pink Stickles glitter glue to make the flower shine, then the gold birds and the pink pearls. Lots of mixed media, elegant and classy, and a freestyle collage.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll create, and what style you will try. Will you experiment with something new or use an old favorite that always comes through? Link it up over at The Card Concept, and see all the great inspiration and ideas from our design team this week!

Vintage Notes with The Card Concept #73

Hello Everybody!

Welcome to The Card Concept Challenge #73, Vintage Notes! We have got a challenging inspiration photo for you this week, featuring a very eclectic mix of images, embellishments, and vintage charm. Will you go light and airy, or maybe a little dark and goth? We’d love to see how you are inspired! You can get all the details and link up your card over at The Card Concept right here:http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/

There are so many wonderful details in this photo you could really do just about anything! I felt really inspired to do something with a vintage vibe, even though I don’t create a lot of vintage or shabby chic vintage designs. So, I pulled out a big box of tricks for a major production using tons of mixed media, embellishments, embossing paste, stencils, inks, stains, and a few bits and baubles to boot. But then I began creating in a true freestyle collage method, just cutting out and arranging a few unrelated images, cuts, and patterned papers, and voila! I had created an easy card I was really happy with that had a great vintage vibe to it. if you’ve never created a vintage look card before, give it a try with what you already have in your stash. You might just amaze yourself!

I can’t wait to see what my design team has created this week, for we have a few vintage look pros that take AMAZING to the next level! You can find all of their amazing ideas on The Card Concept blog, and link up your own project in your favorite style!

The Card Concept Challenge #69: Rich Texture

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to The Card Concept’s newest challenge, Rich Texture! We have got a beautiful inspiration photo for you this week! Take a look!

This is one of my favorite inspiration photos this season! To play along, all you need to do is create a card in one of our crafty styles and link it up over at The Card Concept blog right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.ca/

Today I am sharing a Clean and Layered Freestyle Collage card. I went for a very clean look with just the chair and flowers, creating tiny little blooms by rolling each flower with a pair of tweezers. I used bits of foam pop dots behind the chair to give it a visual 3D effect. I wanted all eyes to focus on the rich texture of those pretty spring flowers.

Take a look at what our design team has created for you today! You will be amazed at their beautiful creations!
