The Card Concept #102: Homestyle Holiday

Hello Everybody!

Welcome to this week’s exciting challenge from The Card Concept, Homestyle Holiday! The holidays are here , and what a better way to celebrate than a comfy, cozy celebration at home with friends and family! You can get all the details, and link up your Homestyle Holiday card over at The Card Concept, right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I was so inspired by that darling pillow under the tree! The little red car and the green tree really remind me of warm holiday memories growing up in Wisconsin! I started with a distressed ink background, then added die cuts and snowflake sequins to turn this into a mixed media holiday shaker, ready for a homestyle holiday!

The Card Concept Hits 100!

Hello Everybody!

We are so thrilled you could join us this week for a very special milestone from The Card Concept! It’s our 100th Challenge, and each  of us here on the design team have invited a very special crafty friend to join us for our 100th Challenge, Elegant Fall! You can get all the details, link up your Elegant Fall Creation, and get more inspiration and ideas from our entire team and our guests, over at The Card Concept Blog right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

This week, I created my version of Elegant Fall with rich metallic rose gold, magenta, and gold foil papers. I added lovely layered roses and a few sequins for a little bit of bling surprise! I just love this color palette, along with all of the rich details. I wanted to include them all, and actually created more than a few versions of this card before finally going with the elegant foil.

While you are visiting The Card Concept Blog, take a look at a card from my very special guest, Jeanne Jachna. Jeanne has always been both an inspiration and a mentor to me, and she’s from the Midwest too, where they say the nicest folks are from! But I have discovered crafters are the nicest people on earth, no matter where you plant you roots! My crafty wish for you all on the Big 100 is that you also can learn from talented designers and mentors like Jeanne, and you can then share that crafty goodness with the world. You can find more of Jeanne’s inspiration and ideas on her blog, A Kept Life, right here: https://akeptlife.blogspot.com/2018/10/the-card-concept-pink-pumpkins.html

The Card Concept #96: Golden Table

Hello Everybody!

I am so glad you could join us for the newest challenge at The Card Concept, Golden Table! I’m not sure if the inspiration photo inspired my card, or if my newest die gave me a great idea, but I recently got my crafty hands on this beautiful grid die from Altenew, and thought it would make a beautiful “tablecloth” pattern for this Clean and Layered Mixed Media creation. You can see more great inspiration and ideas from our design team, and link up your Golden Table projects over at The Card Concept blog right here:  http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I began this Mixed Media idea with a simple watercolor wash with my favorite colors, pinks, pale yellows, and the pretty peachy color they make when blended together. You can make puddles of color, or add splatters or drips and just play around and have fun!

I cut the Layered Plaid Cover Die A from Altenew in a pretty gold foil paper, and cut the Best Wishes Folksy Script from Poppystamps is a pretty rose gold foil with a peach shadow effect. I added the roses and leaves and it turned out great!

Now we’d love to see what you’ll create!
