Mosaic Madness with The card Concept #115

Hello Crafty Friends!

We are so glad you could join us today for our next challenge with The Card Concept, Mosaic Madness!  This week, our inspiration photo features rows of beautiful details in bright pops of teal, orange, and yellow. I was inspired by those shapes and colors in my super Clean and Simple Layered card. You can find more great design ideas and link up your own Mosaic Madness design over at The Card Concept blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I love how this photo reminds me of the beautiful Moorish designs of the Alhambra in Spain, and I wanted to capture some of those pretty details in my card. But after it was finished, the round shape in the center actually reminded me of the miraculous Rose Window, which survived the great fire in Notre Dame Cathedral last month. Either way, remembering two of the world’s greatest architectural achievements has always brought amazing inspiration to me, and I hope it will inspire you too.

Now it’s your turn! We would love to see what you will create, and how you will be inspired by our Mosaic Madness challenge this week!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

Galoshes Galore with The Card Concept #114

Hello Crafty Friends!

We are so happy you could join us today for a rainy day challenge with The Card Concept, Galoshes Galore! This week, our design team was inspired by colorful rain boots and rainy day weather. You can find more great inspiration and ideas over at The Card Concept Blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I love the inspiration photo, but I really had to think outside of the box because I do not have ANY  rain boots! I wanted to use my picket fence, but then I had to get creative. I kept thinking about what colorful objects could I hang off a fence, and then the idea of the colorful birds flew into my head! I used the bright color palette against the grey fence to create my Clean and Layered card.

Now it’s your turn to show us what you’ll create!

I loved this week’s inspiration photo, and wanted to make sure my Clean and Layered card featured a cute bunny and those big pink blooms! I experimented with the striped plaid background panel in a few different darker colors, but decided to stay with white to compliment the light minty green and keep the pastel palette.

Now it’s your turn! We can’t wait to see what you will design for your own Spring Celebration. Pick one of our six styles, or create one of your own!

Scattered Seashells with The Card Concept #111

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so glad you could join us today for another amazing challenge from The Card Concept! This week, our inspiration is Scattered Seashells, and you are going to LOVE all the amazing ideas our design team has put together for you! You can learn about all of our styles, see more great inspiration and ideas, and link up your Scattered Seashells project over at The Card Concept blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

This is one of my favorite inspiration photos this season! I love the pale color of the shells, mixed in with the starfish and beach sand.  For my mixed media card, I started with a blended oxide ink background splashed with water. I stamped the shells, starfish, and mermaid tail with gold ink, then embossed them with pearl gold Wow! Embossing Glitter. I just love that beautiful sparkle when the the light hits it just right. Then I painted all my stamped images with water color paint, and glued them to my card along with a few tiny pearls and a few REAL sea shells I picked up off the beach near my house. It’s a shell-a-bration!

Shamrock Blessings with The card Concept #110

Hello Crafty Friends!

Thanks so much for dropping by as we kick off another challenge at The Card Concept! This week, our theme is Shamrock Blessings, and our team has put together their finest shades of green! You can link up your own Shamrock inspired card over at The Card Concept right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

There is a lot of inspiration in this pretty wooden shamrock wall piece. I went outside the box a little bit, and created a paper mosaic style card using a die cut that makes a unique repeating pattern when you put them side by side, almost like a big quilt. These pretty circles and diamonds have always reminded me of Celtic patterns and shapes. It’s a different way to bring out the green!

Love is In the Air with The Card Concept #108

Hello Crafty Friends!

I am so glad you could drop by today and see our newest challenge from The Card Concept, Love is in the Air!  This week, our beautiful photo inspiration photo features big fluffy pillows in graphic colors and shapes. You can find more great inspiration and ideas, and link up your card over at The Card Concept blog right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I was really inspired by these colors and shapes. I like the tiny vertical lines of the oblong pillow, and the hard angles of all the pillows on the couch. I brought those elements in to my Clean and Graphic card, and then added that pop of red in the hearts and the pencil. After struggling with a big pile of die cuts and ideas, it finally all came together for me and I fell in love with the graphic punch this card brings.

Now it’s your turn! We can’t wait to see what you’ll create!  Show us that Love is in the Air over at The Card Concept this week!
