When I first saw this week’s inspiration photo, I was reminded of a heart-shaped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup! Of course, no chocolate would ever last long enough to become “vintage” in my house!

Along with the “chocolate” heart, I also fell in love with the swirly gold details, and that beautiful script. I felt inspired to create a card that looked like a vintage secret romantic diary. I found some beautiful, thick patterned papers that felt hand-made, with different shades of gold and gold leaf that I used for the background pieces and leaves. I die cut the pears from card stock then inked them with some of my brand new Altenew inks, from the Summer Afternoon 4 pack, creating this Freestyle Collage card.

The beautiful paper worked well for this. Now it’s your turn! We can’t wait to see what you will create, and how you will be inspired!

I just fell in love with the inspiration photo! It’s filled with all the things I love–pinks, roses, candy, French text, and a little bit of shine! It is a beautiful way to say romance! I created a freestyle collage inspired by the roses, the pink hearts, the shiny foil, and the letters. It reminds me of a Victorian Valentine!

The swirly orange pillows were the very element that grabbed me into the inspiration photo. It was a bit of a challenge to create a card around an orange swirl, but that was my inspiration, along with the clean, crisp white of the pillows too. I created a freestyle collage card in a clean and graphic style, showcasing that fresh and bold orange swirl!

I created a Freestyle Collage card, which can be done in any style and combines unrelated elements to create a finished card. It’s my favorite because it is so versatile. There were so many elements that I found great inspiration from: the rich, luxe gold colors, the shiny foil, the gold dots, the pink blooms, and the beautiful cat coat patterns.Of course, that kitty sure is pretty too!

2016 was a wonderful year for me with The Card Concept. I was so inspired by the creativity of the entire team, and am sorry to bid a fond farewell to a few designers of 2016. I would also love to welcome our newest members to the 2017 team! Be sure to visit their blogs and wish them a warm welcome!

Thanks to all of you who create beautiful designs and play along with our challenges every month. We hope to see a lot more from you in 2017!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to our final challenge of 2016 at The Card Concept, Love and Joy! We will be back after winter break with Challenge #64 on January 4th! Until then, this cozy home and hearth inspiration photo will make you smile! You can get all the details and link up your Love and Joy project over at The Card Concept blog right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/

For my Freestyle Collage card, I focused on a few elements that inspired me from the photo. The fireplace really stands out, of course, but I also added tiny trees and a big JOY on the mantle, and a blazing fire in the hearth. Whenever we burned logs in the fireplace at our old house, which was very rare, my cat Big Max would curl up so close to the fire screen chain I was worried he would burn himself. But that was one of his very favorite things that brought him joy in his golden years. He LOVED an open fire. So this card needed a kitty too!

Today’s card is Freestyle Collage done in a very clean and graphic style. What’s yours? We’d love to see what you create, and how you’ll be inspired by the photo.

The Card Concept #62: Thanksgiving

img_3780-wm

Hello Everyone!

It’s a new challenge over at The Card Concept! This week, the theme is Thanksgiving! I am SO thankful for this terrific inspiration photo because it gave me so many elements to work with in my freestyle collage card!

62

I created a pretty background strip with houndstooth, a classic black and white design element. Then I added a mason jar, sunflower, crimson colored leaves, apple, and the big leaf on the bottom in a colorful plaid. Plaid leaves must be the new trend this season because I see them everywhere and they look so cute!

There’s so much great inspiration going on over at The Card Concept! Take a look right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to The Card Concept Challenge #61! Today’s challenge is Pretty In Pink, and we’ve got a pretty smart inspiration photo to inspire you with! You can get all the details and link up your Pretty in Pink inspired card over at The Card Concept right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com/

We’d love to see how this photo inspires you! I created my Freestyle Collage card after being inspired by the typewriter. I used a fun piece of vintage looking pattern paper, and added a few of my favorite die cuts from Paper Smooches and Memory Box to create an office inspiration.

img_3751-wm

I really didn’t focus too much on the “pink” and you don’t have to either! That’s the fun part about playing along with The Card Concept. You can select your favorite style, or mix and match, using any element of the photo that inspires you the most!
