The Card Concept Challenge #69: Rich Texture

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to The Card Concept’s newest challenge, Rich Texture! We have got a beautiful inspiration photo for you this week! Take a look!

This is one of my favorite inspiration photos this season! To play along, all you need to do is create a card in one of our crafty styles and link it up over at The Card Concept blog right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.ca/

Today I am sharing a Clean and Layered Freestyle Collage card. I went for a very clean look with just the chair and flowers, creating tiny little blooms by rolling each flower with a pair of tweezers. I used bits of foam pop dots behind the chair to give it a visual 3D effect. I wanted all eyes to focus on the rich texture of those pretty spring flowers.

Take a look at what our design team has created for you today! You will be amazed at their beautiful creations!

To create my Freestyle Collage card, I found inspiration in the pretty blue mason jar and those lush green blooms! I created the Ball jar out of light blue vellum and card stock, and added flowers and leaves from the Poppystamps collection. I added silver foil butterflies and Bellen corners to give it a little shine, and match the chrome finish from the photo. It’s a fun spring card!

When I first saw this week’s inspiration photo, I was reminded of a heart-shaped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup! Of course, no chocolate would ever last long enough to become “vintage” in my house!

Along with the “chocolate” heart, I also fell in love with the swirly gold details, and that beautiful script. I felt inspired to create a card that looked like a vintage secret romantic diary. I found some beautiful, thick patterned papers that felt hand-made, with different shades of gold and gold leaf that I used for the background pieces and leaves. I die cut the pears from card stock then inked them with some of my brand new Altenew inks, from the Summer Afternoon 4 pack, creating this Freestyle Collage card.

I just fell in love with the inspiration photo! It’s filled with all the things I love–pinks, roses, candy, French text, and a little bit of shine! It is a beautiful way to say romance! I created a freestyle collage inspired by the roses, the pink hearts, the shiny foil, and the letters. It reminds me of a Victorian Valentine!

The swirly orange pillows were the very element that grabbed me into the inspiration photo. It was a bit of a challenge to create a card around an orange swirl, but that was my inspiration, along with the clean, crisp white of the pillows too. I created a freestyle collage card in a clean and graphic style, showcasing that fresh and bold orange swirl!

I created a Freestyle Collage card, which can be done in any style and combines unrelated elements to create a finished card. It’s my favorite because it is so versatile. There were so many elements that I found great inspiration from: the rich, luxe gold colors, the shiny foil, the gold dots, the pink blooms, and the beautiful cat coat patterns.Of course, that kitty sure is pretty too!

2016 was a wonderful year for me with The Card Concept. I was so inspired by the creativity of the entire team, and am sorry to bid a fond farewell to a few designers of 2016. I would also love to welcome our newest members to the 2017 team! Be sure to visit their blogs and wish them a warm welcome!

Thanks to all of you who create beautiful designs and play along with our challenges every month. We hope to see a lot more from you in 2017!
