October Party Cat

Hello Everybody!

Today I am sharing a bright and bold card with a Halloween Party vibe going on. I just imagine this cool cat hanging out with friends at an October party! The bespectacled kitty and bright color combination was inspired by the current challenge at The Heart Desires, Challenge #17!  You can get the details for The Heart Desires Challenge right here: http://theheartdesiresblog.blogspot.com/search/label/challenge

October is the BEST months for cats and kittens! The Cat Lovers Hop over at the Her Peaceful Garden Blog is giving us great ideas, inspiration, and giveaways all week long! You can get all the details and link up a kitty themed project right here: https://herpeacefulgarden.blogspot.com/2017/10/the-2017-cat-lovers-hop-and-link-up-is.html

Here’s the fun part! Just leave a comment on this or on ANY of my posts during the Cat Lovers Blog Hop and you might be the lucky winner of my Kitty Pocket Letter, pictured below.

This kitty pocket letter is completely empty right now, because I want the recipient to receive a surprise! But I have to say, I filled it up with all its goodies and doodads and embellishments today, and it looks amazing! Every now and then, I like making and sending pocket letters and fill them up with whatever I want! Maybe I can encourage you to give one a try and not worry one bit about all the “rules” regarding these fun projects.

Today’s blog is brought to you by the kitty, Omar Kitty! His name is Omar, of course, but we always call him Omar Kitty! When I craft, I usually work on a number of projects at the same time, pulling out a big pile of dies and loading up the platform and cutting a number at a time, then arranging them in neat little piles for their cards. Whenever I do this, Omar Kitty decides he is going to help, and always does, plopping himself right on top of my tiny papers and tools and then I work around him. Did I tell you he likes to help me do the laundry too!

The Heart Desires #14

Hello Everybody!

Today I am playing along with The Heart’s Desire Challenge #14, one of my favorite inspirational challenges! The Heart’s Desire is celebrating their 1 Year Anniversary, and I am so happy I had a little time to play along at the last minute with this artsy CAS summer beach card! You can get all the details and link up your card at The Heart’s Desire right here: http://theheartdesiresblog.blogspot.com/2017/07/the-heart-desires-challenge-14.html

I was really inspired by a few of the elements in this multi-photo inspiration board! Have you ever been to the beach, on a beautiful day, where all the beautiful colors of the sand, the water, the sky, and the horizon just seem to blend together in a dreamy look? I love days like that, calming and refreshing. So, I created something a little different, a little artsy, and very CAS with a few of my favorite beachy die cuts.

Thanks so much for joining us today!

The Heart Desires Challenge #12

Hello Everyone!

I’m back in the craft room again after a little time away, and I couldn’t be happier to play along with this month’s challenge from The Heart Desires. There is so much color and cheeriness in the inspiration photo that I couldn’t decide what to create! I just kept adding element after element until I remembered a brand new die I hadn’t even used yet, this cute pail from Impression Obsession. So I went with a simple, striking design and it turned out great! You can get all the details and play along with The Heart Desires right here: http://theheartdesiresblog.blogspot.com/2017/05/the-heart-desires-challenge-12.html

If you look closely at the top right photo, you will find a tiny blue glass with gold trim. That was the main inspiration for my card, which features a blue pail with a gold handle. I had to fill it with tiny roses too.

The Heart Desires Challenge #10

Hello Everyone!

Today I am playing along with The Heart Desires, one of my very favorite challenge blogs! There’s still a little bit of time left to play along with this month’s challenge at The Heart Desires right here: http://theheartdesiresblog.blogspot.com/2017/03/the-heart-desires-challenge-10.html

There’s so much to love about each of these wonderful inspiration photos! So much, in fact, that I was overwhelmed in what direction to go! I was really drawn to the shape of octagon maps on the wall. How cool is that? After I made the octagon pattern, I was really stumped, and sat on this for about a month! I finally added the seagulls and shouted “Ahoy!” This card has launched! The seagulls seem to bring it all together.

The Heart Desires Challenge #8

Hello Everyone!

Today I am playing along with The Heart Desires Challenge #8, on this chilly morning! Now I’m thinking frosty thoughts again. For the past two weeks or so, the weather has been warm and sunny, and we’ve been in shorts and flip flops enjoying the fresh air. I was in a spring card making frame of mind.

I love playing along with The Heart Desires because there is always so much going on in the inspiration photos that it’s easy to select a favorite element or two. I love the frosty blueberry photo and the cool winter tones. There is so much to love about these holiday images, and so much that I wanted to include! I wrote that I was lucky I had a few minutes to play along, but I really meant I had a few minutes to do a quick blog post! This card actually took me quite a while to create the other day. I kept making more and more pieces to add on, and playing around in different colors. Finally I focused on the colors, the shades of pink, the blues, and a touch of green and I finally made it work!

Having all of your wonderful love and support has filled my heart in 2016! Thank you all for your enthusiastic comments, and for following along and joining me almost every day!

All of us here at Crimson Owl Creations will be taking a little break to spend the holidays with friends and family. I have a pre-scheduled post or two coming up, and then it’s back to work in the craft studio! You’ll see some wonderful projects making their debut on January 1st!

Happy Holidays!

The Heart Desires #6

Hello Everyone!

Today I am sharing a card I created for The Heart Desires Challenge #6! I loved the “man” palette, and it gave me a great excuse to finally order a new die I’ve had my eye on for a long time, Sugar Pea Designs Log Cabin Mountainscape. I LOVE the little mountains! I tweaked the colors and the cuts around for a while until I could stay within the color palette, use a few elements, and resemble the sketch too. Take a look at the original.

There’s still time to play along over at The Heart Desires blog right here: http://theheartdesiresblog.blogspot.com/search/label/challenge

I hope you are all enjoying your Thanksgiving weekend, filled with food, family, friends, football, maybe even a little snow? Down South here, snow is rare, but tomorrow is the most important football match-up of the year, the Iron Bowl! That’s when our alma mater, the number one team in the country right now and last year’s national championship, the University of Alabama, battles our biggest rival, Auburn University! UA vs. AU! Roll Tide vs. War Eagle! I didn’t really understand or love college football until I moved to Tuscaloosa here and went to my first BAMA game with my hubbie. After an inspiring and moving video clip from Bear Bryant on the jumbotron, the opening chords of Sweet Home Alabama boomed out over the loudspeaker and 100,000 people leapt to their feet, shaking 100,000 shakers (little pom pon streamers on sticks) in UNISON! I had become part of the Saban Nation, Crimson Blood coursing through my veins.

So ROLL TIDE, Alabama! Bring on the Iron Bowl! and we shall celebrate mano v. mano, our version of the snowy lumberjack.
