The Card Concept #96: Golden Table

Hello Everybody!

I am so glad you could join us for the newest challenge at The Card Concept, Golden Table! I’m not sure if the inspiration photo inspired my card, or if my newest die gave me a great idea, but I recently got my crafty hands on this beautiful grid die from Altenew, and thought it would make a beautiful “tablecloth” pattern for this Clean and Layered Mixed Media creation. You can see more great inspiration and ideas from our design team, and link up your Golden Table projects over at The Card Concept blog right here:  http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I began this Mixed Media idea with a simple watercolor wash with my favorite colors, pinks, pale yellows, and the pretty peachy color they make when blended together. You can make puddles of color, or add splatters or drips and just play around and have fun!

I cut the Layered Plaid Cover Die A from Altenew in a pretty gold foil paper, and cut the Best Wishes Folksy Script from Poppystamps is a pretty rose gold foil with a peach shadow effect. I added the roses and leaves and it turned out great!

Now we’d love to see what you’ll create!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

The Tall Ship moves back and forth across the card, but also tips back and forth as it bounces on the waves! Colorful Bubble Fish swim off the starboard side, on their way to an adventure!

Poppystamps March Challenge: Clean and Simple

Hello Everyone!

It’s time for a brand new challenge over at Poppystamps this month, Clean and Simple! You can get all the details and link up your CAS sensation over at the Poppystamps blog right here: http://poppystamps.typepad.com/

A Clean and Simple, or “CAS” card is so versatile, it can include a lot of elements. It can be one layer, one color, a lot of white space, minimum number of dies, one focal point, one stamped sentiment, or no stamped sentiments! It ALL fits and it ALL looks beautiful! It also can be CAS and BOLD too! Show us YOUR idea of a Clean and Simple card and your project could be randomly selected to win a brand new prize from Poppystamps!

I used two dies from our latest release, Elegant Koi and Woven Circle Ring to create this CAS style card. Originally I was just going to use the cut outline of the fish, but I really liked the way the two-toned fins looked against the intricate woven background. Tiny paper piecing can look very clean, but it’s not always so simple! With a little delicate work and a pair of tweezers, you can create a design that looks beautifully clean and deceptively simple too!
