Fanciful Fall with The Card Concept #140

Hello Crafty Friends!

Autumn has officially begun, which makes this week’s inspiration photo on The card Concept, Fanciful Fall, just so perfect! This week’s challenge is a bright and fanciful challenge to play around with, and we would LOVE to see you all join in! You can get all the details, read up on our different styles, and link up your Fanciful Fall design over on The Card Concept right here https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I love this week’s inspiration so much, I even tried to order  a very special die to create some fanciful leaves. But the company was sold out! So then I bought this gorgeous set from Memory Box,  Scribble Leaf Bundle Outline, which I immediately fell in love with! Then, suddenly, last week, I received a notification that the “very special die” I originally wanted was back in stock! I ordered it immediately, hoping it would arrive in time to use for Fanciful Fall. It did arrive in time, yesterday afternoon while I was working on a huge garden clean-up project at a community organization I am a part of.  All day long, our coastal Florida city was hit with gale-force winds, high tides, and flooding. It made for a cooler day and an escape from the mugginess, but all day long I watched as giant pruned banana tree leaves we had in a neat pile blew across our garden beds, and the bags of dusty red mulch we had lovingly spread over the new walkways flew into the milkweed bed we had just weeded, filled with monarch butterflies dodging the barrage. I returned home exhausted, and quickly tore open the happy mail envelope waiting for me on the counter. And I LOVED the new die set that I knew would be so perfect for this card.

But you know what? I also loved the Scribble Leaf Bundle Outline too, and the light and airy leaves floating in air in a clear blue-sky  card I created too. With a CAS look of artsy sketched leaves in shiny cardstock, I thought it was just the right card for this Fanciful Fall day. Nothing ever turns out as we plan, or even expect, but there is beauty and joy in accomplishing the work that drives our soul, even in these challenging times.

Now it’s your turn to create your own Fanciful Fall work of art!

I was super inspired by that big and bright container of colorful sunflowers! That is so beautiful and the perfect setting in this modern country kitchen. I used some of the summer colors from the photo, adding apples and a little white country mouse. I wanted the look to be clean and layered, but full of tiny details too.

Easy as ABC with The Krafty Chicks Challenge #521

Hello Crafty Friends and Krafty Chicks!

Welcome to the Krafty Chicks Challenge #521! This week, the theme is Clean and Simple, or more simply, CAS! I have been invited to be a guest designer at Krafty Chicks all month long, and I am SO honored! You can get all the details of this week’s challenge, and link up YOUR CAS creation over at the Krafty Chicks blog right here: https://kraftychickschallenge.blogspot.com/2020/08/krafty-chicks-challenge-521-cas-clean.html

I decided to go back to basics with a CAS card this week, and what is more back to basics than the abc’s? I know CAS means different things to different people, but for me, it’s a lot of crisp, white space, and either die cuts or stamped images with a main focal point. But what if the background is NOT white? What if your main focal image is a die cut image with a million little pieces to it that you put together with glue and tweezers for 3 hours? Is it still CAS? Let’s see your vision of CAS this week?

August always means back to school, whatever that looks like in your home state this year. But what is really simple in these complicated arrangements is the simple importance of learning, back to the basic abc’s. That was the inspiration for my card this week. I seem to be in a kitty mood this month too! Meow!

Show us your CAS projects and link them up over on Krafty Chicks this week!

Kitty Christmas with Krafty Chicks Challenge #520

Hello Crafty Friends and Krafty Chicks!

This month, I am having an AH-MA-ZING time playing along with the gang at Krafty Chicks, who have given me the very special honor as Guest Designer! This week, our theme is Christmas, and what’s more Christmas-ish than kitty cats! I used a combination of dies to create this Christmas trio of meowers nosing around the Christmas lights.

We’d love to see what you’ll create for Krafty Chicks Challenge #520 – Christmas! You can get all the details, see more great inspiration and ideas from the Krafty Chicks design team, and link up your Christmas card over at the Krafty Chicks blog right here: https://kraftychickschallenge.blogspot.com/2020/08/krafty-chicks-challenge-520-christmas.html

To create my Kitty Christmas card, I used a few die sets from one of my favorite companies, Lawn Fawn! I used Tiny Gift Box Cat Add-On, String of Lights, and Tiny Gift Box Holiday Hats Add-On.. That’s only 3 different die sets, but lots of teeny tiny cutting and tiny details, which is how I love to play with paper.

Now it’s your turn. What will you create?

Thanks so much for joining us today, and thanks again to Krafty Chicks and this month’s challenge host, Nance!

Hanging out with The Krafty Chicks

Hello Crafty Friends and Krafty Chicks!

I am THRILLED to be a part of the Krafty Chicks Weekly Challenge #519 this week! The theme is Stamp Act, so let’s celebrate with this cute pair of kitty cards that feature adorable stamped images from My Favorite Things and Newton’s Nook.

You can get all the details, see more great inspiration and ideas, and play along with the Krafty Chicks team over on their blog right here: https://kraftychickschallenge.blogspot.com/2020/08/krafty-chicks-challenge-519-week-1.html

I just love creating “paper art,” but I also love using really adorable stamps too, like these images from My Favorite Things and Newton’s Nook. The first card combines the little girl holding the kitty, and the kitty at her feet from “New Best Friends” from MFT. I used an old school masking technique to stamp the kitty first, then the girl to create a super clean CAS image, then colored everybody with copic markers.

The second card combined the kitty with the toilet paper from “Naughty Newton” by Newton’s Nook, with the sentiment from “Cat-astrophe” from MFT! I used a coordinating color palette so both cards look like they are part of a little set. Cute, right? These are definitely my kitties!

Now it’s your turn to show us your awesome Stamp Act images this week, and link up your design over on the Krafty Chicks blog right here https://kraftychickschallenge.blogspot.com/2020/08/krafty-chicks-challenge-519-week-1.html

Thank you so much to Nance and the team from Krafty Chicks for this AWESOME invite! We’ll see you all soon!

Dog Days of Summer with The Card Concept #138c

Hello Crafty Friends!

Welcome to our special Summer Edition of The Card Concept! This week, we have an adorable challenge inspiration for Dog Days of Summer! You can get all the details and link up your Dog Days project over on The Card Concept blog right here: https://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I LOVE anything that has anything to do with Dog Days of Summer! It’s a great phrase, and most of us have probably heard that it comes from the Dog Star, Sirius, as it makes its mark in August. Growing up in Wisconsin, we never went swimming in August because it was “dog days.” I always thought that meant that the water in the lakes and rivers began to get funny because of all the leaves and bits that were floating in the water, and only the dogs liked to swim in it. But since August is my birthday month, I like to think that this month belongs to the dogs, and the women who run with them. This challenge is for all the ultra-chic doggies out there this month!

What is more ultra-chic than this cool doggie on a Vespa? Super CAS with a bold shot of red, this little doggie is on his way!

We’d love to see what you’ll create for your Dog Days project! Link it up over on The Card Concept and take a ride with the cool kids!

Thanks so much for joining us today!
