Sweet Summer Succulents

Hello Everybody!

Today I am playing along with a brand new challenge over at Fusion! This week the theme is Cactus Door, and I was inspired to create a few succulents outside my window! You can get all the details and link up your cactus Door creation over at Fusion right here: http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2018/07/fusion-cactus-door.html

I really love those thick squishy cacti near the door, and I used a fun group of bright green cacti, including the large round agave, to create my own cacti collection!

The Card Concept #96: Golden Table

Hello Everybody!

I am so glad you could join us for the newest challenge at The Card Concept, Golden Table! I’m not sure if the inspiration photo inspired my card, or if my newest die gave me a great idea, but I recently got my crafty hands on this beautiful grid die from Altenew, and thought it would make a beautiful “tablecloth” pattern for this Clean and Layered Mixed Media creation. You can see more great inspiration and ideas from our design team, and link up your Golden Table projects over at The Card Concept blog right here:  http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

I began this Mixed Media idea with a simple watercolor wash with my favorite colors, pinks, pale yellows, and the pretty peachy color they make when blended together. You can make puddles of color, or add splatters or drips and just play around and have fun!

I cut the Layered Plaid Cover Die A from Altenew in a pretty gold foil paper, and cut the Best Wishes Folksy Script from Poppystamps is a pretty rose gold foil with a peach shadow effect. I added the roses and leaves and it turned out great!

Now we’d love to see what you’ll create!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

Stamping for Families Blog Hop

Hello Everyone!

Like so many of my crafty friends, I have been moved by the images we’ve been seeing on the news lately. I have shed more than a few tears for the children separated from their parents, and for the lasting impression that our land of freedom and opportunity has now given to the world. Separating young children from their parents is something that I simply cannot support.

But what can I do? I am just one person. As Robert Kennedy famously said, “Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”

Senator Robert F. Kennedy, June 6, 1966, South Africa

Today, there is a small, committed group of crafty women that have come together to create a little ripple.  Today, we are Stamping for Families.

What can you do? You can join us, and create a card that you can link up to our growing group of committed friends who would like to see a change. Perhaps it will make a difference, to yourself, to someone special, or to someone who can make decisions, or make policy, or make a change.

What else can you do?

  1. Be kind. Be a friend. Know that it is Love that makes a family.
  2. Make a card and share it with someone you love, someone in your family, or someone in your tribe.
  3. Reach out and call your US Senators at (202) 224-3121 and ask them to support SB3036.  The “Keep Families Together Act” deals with stopping family separation, which is a good place to start.
  4. Pay your love forward and donate to one of the groups helping reunite the families! Here’s a good one!  RAICES, Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services. Together, we can make a difference for families!

The best place for you to link up your card is over on Sandy Allnock’s Blog right here: http://sandyallnock.com/stamping-for-families-bloghop-and-a-wee-dog-vlog/

Sandy has a special message and a special surprise for crafty folks who link up their “Stamping for Familes” creations!

It’s a Hoot with The Card Concept Challenge #95

Hello Everybody!

We are thrilled you could join us for a brand new challenge at The Card Concept! Our inspiration this week is “Owl Cherish Our Friendship,”  and the beautiful creations from our design team are quite a hoot! You can get all the details and link up your owl Inspired friendship card over at The Card Concept blog right here: http://thecardconcept.blogspot.com

Since I named my blog, Crimson Owl Creations, it’s clear that I LOVE owls! Cute and cuddly, or fierce and majestic, owls are magnificent hunters, and an important balance in our eco system. These wide-eyed owls inspired me to create a card featuring owls having fun!

I added a fun little surprise too! To create a raised look and feel to the word “hoot,” I cut out 4 letters each of white, and light, medium, and dark orange and carefully adhered them to the back of each letter before placing it onto my card. It gives it a fun spot of color!

Now it’s your turn! Show us your cutest friendship owls, and link it up over at The Card Concept!

Thanks so much for joining us today!
