House of Cards December Blog Hop

Hello Everyone!

We are so glad you could join us today for a special blog hop here at House of Cards. We have appreciated all of your wonderful support over the years, and now it’s time to say goodbye.

 

We are closing the doors. This is our very last challenge.

We want to say goodbye, and thank you all for playing along with our creative challenges!

Our final challenge will run from December 1st at 6:00 am through December 15th at noon CST. Any card style is welcome and we’ve got a gorgeous photo inspiration that you are going to love!

For my card today, I used a beautiful digital image, Faerie’s Wren, from our sponsor, Beccy’s Place!

I wanted to create a bright and vivid CAS image, one that I will always remember as my final card with House of Cards. I will miss creating cards for all of our inspirational photos. Most of all, I will miss my amazing Group 3 team who never missed a beat! I’d also like to thank Judy for all of her hard work this past year, and of course, Mynn, who began House of Cards, and selected me to be on her team all those years ago! I was inspired by this entire design team, and their brilliant ideas, challenge after challenge. And finally, I will miss all of YOU, our House of Cards friends and family. Be kind to each other, and keep crafting!

For my card today, I let beautiful postcards and gold inks inspire me. I was thinking about an artist, making sketches in gold ink, and writing postcards to someone far away. II wanted to create something very romantic, inspired by gold and pearls.

August Challenge with House of Cards

Hello Everyone!

It’s time for another fun challenge at House of Cards, and we have a great inspiration for you this month!

We’d like to see your ideas using patterned paper, and/or this bright and bold color palette!

I found a nice piece of beautiful hand-made marbled paper in my scrap paper box! I carefully cut it out in this intricate honeycomb pattern using the Birch Press Honeybee Layer A! Usually, when I cut patterns like this, most of the little hexagons stay within the paper frame. But this time, because marbled paper like this is so thin, all the tiny hexagons flew all over the place, and I had to carefully gather them up and reassemble them like a puzzle. It was NOT easy with all those swirly lines and whorls. Originally I was going to add little bees, but then decided on the tiny boat instead, to go with this wavy blue pattern, which reminds me of Japanese wave paper. I focused the pattern paper on the background, and made the Poppystamps Wooden Rowboat in blue and white.

I created my cards from images from Caring Crocus, available from MHKDesigns. I printed the digital images and sentiment on watercolor paper, and used copic markers to feature simple crocuses in a few different spring pastel colors.
